Following on from the 200SX thread, I think insurance is going to be a problem. Nowhere I've tried so far seems to want less the £3K, which is simply too much. £2K i could live with. So, are there any specialist insurers who would consider a 19 (almost 20) year old on a 200SX?

Have you tried these? www.belldirect.co.uk

They quoted a good price for me.

Yep, tried them. They say I have to be 21 or over to insure the car with them. I've managed to get my lowest price down to £2500 with Budget. Still too much though

I've always found elephant to be the cheapest, followed by Admiral. (They are the same company).

Elephant were the only ones that gave me a decent quote (£1400) and that was with a air filter + mongoose. Liverpool Victoria are highly regarded although you need 1 years NCB and over 21 I believe.

Do the owners club have a prefered insurer?.....They might have a "Special owners club member" deal?

Strangely enough the AA has always been the cheapest for my Supra.
I've been insured with them for about 5 years.

The AA seem to be a real mixed bag. Their best quote for me (24 3 years no clames no accidents), was £2000. Elephant was £450. But I do know other people who have AA as they found the cheapest.....just dont rely on it being the cheapest.

Got my 200 insured through Greenlight at a good price. They also offer trackday cover and they insure any mods you have as well on a like for like basis.

www.greenlightinsurance.com/

Give them a ring for a quote as the online quotes are always a bit out.

I went with Adrian Flux

They gave me the best price, however, I took out the policy in Decemebr and haven't had my certificate yet. They keep sending me one cover note after another

Anyone know if this is acceptable?

Well, thanks for the advice people but my parents have now decided that I can't afford to change my car while I'm at uni. Not that it would have cost them a penny, but they won't let me do it. Isn't life wonderful?
