Right we can't let those Southerns have all the fun!
I'm back from the Alps in June so lets come up with a bit of a meet plan!

I'd like to propose a drive meet with a few social stop off's
I have some routes I've listed in a Poll.
Please pick the ones you prefer and then post a preferred date late June or July and I'll sort something out!
The mileage is the route itself and excludes getting to and from!
Some of these are going to be busy on a weekend so a week day might be good? Many have single track roads.

UPDATED DETAILS
DATE 14th JULY 2011
~150 miles around Peaks & Pennines
Lunch stop to be confirmed

I'm in the Midlands and reckon you can't beat North and mid Wales for a decent run and include the EVO triangle.

I personally find some of the single track roads a bit of a chore unless they are in my homeland, the Scottish Highlands as the traffic hinders progress.

Voted for North Wales

I've just voted for something else laugh

Something around Mid Wales - Devils Bridge, Elan Valley area, maybe a visit to the red kite sanctuary for feeding time!

What a fine idea. smile

A weekday would work well for me as most of my summer weekends are already booked up. I'll come along whenever I can though.

I'd prefer North Yorkshire - empty roads, good distances between villages and no fixed "safety" cameras. There are some cracking B-roads and single tracks can be avoided if preferred. Some nice cafes too.

As a southern Jessie, if I'm not working (very frequent) I would pop up for it! Voted Peaks and Pennines as OH has a sister in Derby so she'd be more willing to trundle along with me.

As long as it's not lard butties for lunch smile

Well done Mikey.

Wales and the Lakes are fab, but slightly peripheral to many.

Probably best keeping it as central as possible IMO, but happy to go with the flow smile

I'm with Beaky, Yorkshire would be great.

I'm up for this but can we focus on the best driving roads/low traffic volume with a low profile from plod?

If mid wales doesn't suit then I'll go with the flow.hippy

A weekday drive would be great but need to book a day off work. Would have to be between 15-25th of month though.
Or I could prob do most weekends.
I really don't like single track roads, esp in a V12. Hedges, branches sticking out, mud, farmers crud, loose stones to fly up etc.
The V12 is happiest on fast flowing A roads with some twisties!
Cheers for getting this off the ground!

Count me in. Would actually prefer midweek as weekends get pretty mental over the summer period and I'm sure work can do without me for a day

OK so I have a date in mind wink Wednesday 6th July with a 10AM start.
Mid week and early enough in July that most the kids will still be at school.

It looks like the route should be ~150 miles around Peaks, Pens & Dales (hopefully with some Lakes thrown in!)

I'm thinking a route that takes a little bit of them all, this will mean we all have a M way sprint either before or after the route to get to/from it.

Lets start putting some names on a short list!

Will it definitely be mid-week? I would like to come but struggle for time off during the week.

laugh

I know I know, what a feeble effort, should've said I was going to the moon instead laugh

This trip could decide whether I'll be leaving the UK to work down under eeksmile

When/if i have my ticket I'll post an image to prove it wasn't possible to make the drive/tyre kicking/talk Astons meet wink

On checking my diary I note that Yorkshire are playing a T20 match that day. However, with a 10am start for the drive I should be able to get to Headingley for 5pm. I have put my name down as provisional pending sorting out logistics.
