As might be guessed the hot cabin is due to a lack of cooling air from the aircon. The telltale light comes on on the A/C button on the dash and the fuse is good, just no cooling effect. No obvious external signs of distress on the cooling plumbing/compressor. Anyone had a similar problem? It might or might not be related that a slight squealing on start up suddenly got much louder on the very day the aircon packed up. Not heard it since....guess I just leave the windows open a bit more for now.

Just sounds like you need a re-gas! £60 from any garage, pretty much.

Rick at DMS will re gas for you and provide a coffee whilst you wait. Mine, a MY07, was completely empty back in 2010.

Hopefully that's all it is, but if it made a squealing noise before it packed up, could it be a compressor fault? (Or a pig caught in the drive belt?)

I guess that is the first thing to try. The Aston garage here (Geneva) went bust just before xmas but I guess any garage could do that. Probably going to cost more than 60 quid here though!!

Well....turns out to be a burst joint in the extruded aluminium section beneath the filler connector. Dont know how I missed it myself. Now the guy pointed it out it is clear. Needs a clip to hold it together which has apparently gone AWOL.

Regas will be 150Sfr here in Geneva once he gets the clip..
