With the standard Pirelli tyres - are the V12s really un-usable on wet/cold days or is it just a case of having to go steady (maybe with the sports mode off) - coming from a TVR, there are no driving aids at all, admittedly it's not a V12, but i am always much more cautious in the wet, sometimes get the back wiggling though!

What are the other options for the tyres on the V12 - can you just opt for a slightly more general use tyre, or do the Pirelli's really come into their own on sunny days?

On a day like today you corner on rails. I've never driven my V12 on a wet day so cannot comment on that...

On wet and cold days it requires respect as you can easily spin the wheels in any gear. However, it is by no means unsafe as any oversteer can easily be dealt with with a bit of steering input and throttle. The main point is that you don't get the maximum out of the car with those tires in cold and wet conditions so the use of the excellent Pirelli Sottozero winter tires is recommended. On sunny and warm days the Corsas are perfect offering unimaginable grip when warm on a car that has the near perfect weight distribution.

I have the Sottozerros but these are winter tyres. Don't see how you would put them on just for some wet weather and them switch back...

Why don't you put the original Bridgestone V8v tyres on? If you don't track the car you won' t loose hat much grip on warm days and on wet and / or cold days, the safety increase is huge!

if (when) I get a V12 I would just run OE Bridgestones daily and save the Corsas for track use, on a spare set of rims

Like most track tyres, they only give their best at 10/10ths, and rarely do I drive at the limit on the road

if you use a V12 Vantage daily/all weathers, a spare set of wheels is the answer I think

This was discussed recently and I did a bit of digging at the time on the alternative Pirelli & Michelin tyres available :

The interesting question would be: are the Pirelli Rosso better than the Bridgestone?

That would depend on the season. As with high performance motorbike tyres you can go for grip, where the tyres warm up quickly and are superb in the dry but lack traction and feel in the wet or go for a more general tyre which is more compromised but broader in its application.

better on track, or a dry warm road at 10/10ths cornering - yes
better on a cold, wet, winters morning at 3 degrees, or even summer rain - nope

one is an all round sportscar tyre, the other pretty much a trackday summer tyre
