where from? dealer or indy?

dealers seem to vary if you ring around - depends on labour rate I guess...can be £150 or £100 an hour just 20 miles apart for some I found in the South East

about £420 ish at DMS in Derby

Thanks for info bogie.

Main dealer for stamp purposes as unfortunately Aston buyers tend to depend on it... I wish they didnt! Been quoted 700 inc VAT. How does that sound?

Jon - it would not deter me from buying your gorgeous car if it had a DMS stamp in it. In some ways I would prefer it.

Stratstone will offer you the same part-ex when you come to upgrade whether it is a Dealer or Indy Stamp in it smile

I hear what you're saying Jockman - When Buying another Aston I would think the same - especially a DMS stamp!!

Just seems that not all in the used market for a Vantage like mine are enthusiasts like us, they just want full main dealer so I don't want to limit my appeal at resale time over £250 now.

ask them for a breakdown of the £700 and then when they tell you £200 is for oil supply your own and save £140

Well in my experience they will not, when I part exed the Boxster they reduced their offer because one of the stamps was not OPC frown

Peter - they have intimated that to me in the past also. I told them their viewpoint would risk jeopardising a £90K deal. So Guess what they did smile

It would set a very dangerous legal precedent if a Dealer were to put it in writing that they view an acknowledged specialist Indy stamp as inferior to their own.

Same here. If I saw a DMS stamp I'd know its been properly looked after by Rick and his team and most likely the owner would have gone out of his/her way to make the journey to DMS for that exact reason. For me going to DMS is not about saving money, its about quality of service saving a few quid even after fuel and time is a bonus.

Matg - i agree. Shame a significant proportion of the buying market dont share our enthusiast view on servicing.

Anyhow...

Thanks Michael. Picked up my oil at 120 for 12 litres, it needs 11 so one spare. Dealer quoted 230ish on oil. Ended up 590 all in for the main dealer stamp - could be worse. Have lemans coming up so looking forward to a clean bill of health
