Best driving route from Glasgow to Leeds
Discussion
I'll be joining the AMV8 club week on Friday all being well when I collect an N400 from a private buyer in Glasgow, but I live in Leeds. so....
It's the perfect opportunity to give the car a good run back from Glasgow and as my parents live in Darlington I can pop in there for a break in the long drive.
So there are several main options for the route from Glasgow to Darlington:
1) M/A74 > M5 Carlisle > M6 Penrith > A66 to Darlington - A66 being the most interesting part of the drive (174 miles, 3hours)

2) M/A74 > M5 Carlisle > A689 Brampton to Alston to Crook > A68 to Darlington (169 miles, 3hrs 40 mins)

3) M8 across to Edinburgh, then A68 down to Newcastle, then A1 to Darlington (188 miles, 4 hours)

4) M8 across to Edinburgh, then A1 to Darlington (202 miles, 4 hours)
