I am going on a road trip in June around a large area of Europe (France, Monaco, Italy etc). My Vantage has the extended AM warranty and therefore it has "emergency assistance" which covers Europe.

Does anyone have any experience of using it, does it give me enough cover to get the car home if we hit problems?

Yes, I had to use it after a deer ran out from the side of the road and headbutted the front wing. Immediately afterwards, the dash showed the engine warning light. The assistance was good, they listened to what had happened, asked me to describe the damage, asked if the car was still running ok (it occasionally went in to limp home mode but switching off and restarting cured that) and told me it was ok to drive home (knowing that I was in central France). I asked if the conversation was recorded, in case the advice was faulty, he said it was (don't know if that's true or not).

After further discussion, he offered to have the car trailered home but said he was convinced there would be no further damage if I drove home, so I did, a couple of days later. No problems (apart from the limp home mentioned) and it turned out the warning light was due to unusual air flow readings as the deer had punctured the airbox. Shows how hard he hit us!

The service was fine as far as I was concerned.

Thanks GlynMo, sounds nasty, but from what you say the AM service was good.

Anyone else had to us it?
