Hi there,

Headed off to Oulton Park for the first round of the 2011 British GT Championship. As well as the UK debut of the Ferrari 458 GT3 and the SLS GT3 on track, there was some nice little bits and bobs in the car park.

Spotted this dusty Aston Martin DBS Convertible not long after we had parked up

As I was photographing it a guy came up to me and said "theres another one of these over there but its gold", and he pointed into the distance. I walked over in the direction he had pointed and my son said its there dad, and its not gold its orange.
As I got nearer I realised the car in question was not a DBS, but a brand new Aston Martin Virage Volante. I am a huge Aston Martin fan, and was excited when Aston announced they were bringing the Virage name back, and this car in the flesh was stunning.

This car was obviously a prototype as it had a coded sticker in the top right hand side of the windscreen similar to those on Mclaren's (VP for Valuation Prototype etc)

Hope you like the pics.

Regards

Tim

That looks absolutely stunning, especially in that orange. I might have to look at these to upgrade mine to later on in the year, anyone know when they're available to order?

Too bad they aren't offering it with a manual..! That would be a great car.

I saw the Virage too, no pics of it though. There was this lovely V12V parked me.

Tempting... Do you know if there is a long waiting list for them?

The Rapide lights are an improvement, both practical and aesthetic. I wonder when the DBS and DB9 will get them.

Did you get many pics of the action? Would love to see some shots of the SLS and 458! thumbup

Not sure, unlikely though. Demonstrators arrive in July, so I would assume customer cars in August.

Hi there,

Slightly off topic, heres a few I got.

Well after a poor start to the 2010 season with only 15 cars on the grid at Oulton Park, the 2011 season is off to a flyer.

I am not shooting as media this year as just to busy at work, however wanted to head up to the track to have a look at the new crop of cars for 2011.

The Ferrari 458 GT3 is stunning, two cars so far for the championship with more to follow later in the year: -

The '5' car was on the money all day, and actually took the race win in race 2.

Typical of the Jones brothers to pick something different, there SLS was gorgeous and just as competitive as there old Ascari. Bloody long car though !

Trackspeed Porsches were well turned out as always, and Richard Westbrook can certainly pedal a 911

Last of the new crop was a pair of Evora's in classic Team Lotus colours

Sorry for all the sideways pans, but was trying to make sure I had good clean shots of the liveries on the various cars.

Regards

Tim

Thanks very much for these, great shots as always!

That front end nose cone piece looks huge on the 458, I shudder to think what a replacement would cost after a little on-track scuffle!

I think this virage volante made an appearance in Newport pagnell the day of the v12v owners meet, it flashed me out of the Aston works entrance. Need to check shmee's video
