I had the same problem on mine a while ago and at the time I hadn't come across anyone else who had suffered it. Not to be confused with brake squeal, it's a noise that you could only ever hear at very low speed, i.e. less than 5mph.

Not sure if it's a known issue but it was fixed at the next service.

Hi quinny, I was thinking maybe the hand brake pads could do with a spring to hold the pads back away from the disc

I had that sorted at 10K service a few years ago, I cant remember what the fix was though ....definately not different brand pads, even if you could get them for the hand brake caliper

It usually is the handbrake pads, causes can be over adjustment, it is better usually to have more travel on the handbrake than you would expect in comparison to other cars, the pad can become tight within the carrier usually because of dust build up or lack of use, and sometimes the cable can split adjacent to he adjustment mechanism allowing water between the inner and outer cable that causes a seizure so the pads are not released correctly, tell tale signs that not all is well is the inner pad is wearing faster than the outer,

That explains why mine rolled backwards after I'd thought I'd applied the handbrake and half got out today, then!

A beginners mistake!

I've had endless squealing (rear) brake problems with my V8V which have been only partially resolved by taking them apart several times and putting them back together with Copaslip all over them, handbrake included.

Last week I bought Yellowstuff pads for a couple of track days I plan. They come with a 'soft' pink coating which they says means they need no bedding in, but I thought I would put a few miles on them anyway.

The fronts are fine (and come with clip-on shims) but the rears have no such padding and after about 200 miles they were squealing like a thousand tortured babies (despite Copaslip again).

So much so I gave up and put the OEM ones back on the rear. I'll use the EBC for the track as they only squeal on light and medium braking but they're unliveable as they are on the road.

The Yellowstuff bites as well as the standards though, at all temperatures and are about half the price.
