Does indeed sound like the old thermostat issue, no doubt Rick will be along to do what he does best and so graciously for the community smile

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... Temp Gauge - Normal?

Long story short on older V8's the gasket round the termostat can cause them to remain stuck open and overcooling, mine is shot too, in winter it barely registered unless it was thrashed but I dont thrash cold cars so there it remaind and it was freexing inside the car too smile

I had a run to bury and back the other day in this warmish climate, sat at 70 on cruise it was about the same 7 o'clock position so suspect you have the same.

The good news is it's not expensive to fix.

btw I lied when I said long story short biggrin

Does sound like the theromostat. As already said, not hugely expensive to repair. And the good news is yours didn;t fail when it was icy and snowy - required thick jumpers and coats when on dual carrigeways.

It does sound like a thermostat problem, The majority of cars that I have diagnosed the problem as being the thermostat have been replaced by the dealer network under the warranty,

Quinny - just had my thermostat replaced on the DB9 under warranty. Stratstone came and collected it, replaced the part, valetted it then returned the car same day. All FOC. Rick serviced the car and recommended that I contact the dealer for any warranty items.

Last year my hand brake was sticking, my petrol cap was sticking, and my passenger window was bringing up some gunge with it out of the door when closing. Stratstone came, collected, fixed everything, valetted and returned, all FOC.

Cannot knock that kind of service, Can only applaud it really.

Phone Wilmslow if they are operating your warranty. See if the other issue is covered too.

The only difference is that mine is still under the original 3 year warranty, so I'm not really qualified to speak about extended warranty items. Michael Gould is a useful one for these kind of issues too smile

Can you do the warranty work Rick??

My door locks are also playing up... random door being left unlocked, so I'd like that sorting at the same timesmile
I have a similar door lock problem, on the key fob all the right noise are made but the doors don't appear to lock, if the lights above the rear view mirror stay on the doors arn't locked. Recently they are more unlocked than locked. Using the key on the drivers door is ineffective, but using on the passenger doors locks all doors ( and boot) still annoying though as sometimes the keyfob works.
Will take up with my dealer shortly

If I put too much in the FAQ's people will get bored and start discussing Evoque's / huge MINI's again! biglaugh
