Has anyone ever encountered the rear window on a DB9 volante not raising when the roof is closed?

Tried about 4 times opening and closing the roof yet it is just stuck open.

Anyone any ideas on how to solve it?

Yes! I have the same on my ’07.

I have to manually help it up and down, which is a little embarrassing. It’s better with the engine running.

The dealer is saying it’s a “weak motor”, but a replacement is $1700, most of which is apparently labour. It was actually stuck in the “up” position in the picture on the website I bought it, I just didn’t spot it.

But there’s something weird going on here – I had exactly the same issue on a 1992 XJS Convertible, same window. And, randomly, I was watching a video of another XJS on Youtube recently and noticed it also had the same issue – same window. And I saw another XJS just yesterday – with that window stuck in the up.

I know the XJS is a different car, but there are more “connections” between the 2 than any of us would publicly admit. Less than the DB7, but who knows what minor components are still shared. And don’t work…

A friend of mine suggested that this window is “at the end of the circuit”, but I never understood electricity in high school, so I have no idea if that even makes sense.

There is a seal behind the window that comes unattached and will be stopping the window from going up. The window is only powerd for a short period of time and if the window has not reached the top it will stop trying to move.
