How easy is it to remove the front plate carrier on a Vantage?
Where is the carrier secured to the bumper and how?

I'l looking at getting a smaller front plate made in prep for my car that arrives next week (waahhoo!!).
So need to know if the plate will have to cover any holes.

10 mins, very easy. Just remove existing plate, few screws, bolts and jobs done. Either use heavy duty tape or screw back on using existing pre-drilled holes.

Not that I did it, my OH has, twice.

It's easy provided you have the right size torx bit to remove the actual carrier. Leaves 2 holes, but your new plate would have to be considerably smaller than the norm (i.e. illegal) for it not to cover the holes.

Thanks everyone.

Are the holes in the front of the bumper?

Yes its a pretty small plate (eeek!) but it's been on all of my cars, so has to go on the new baby smile

The above thread is a good one for this, at the bottom is a pictire of what you will see with plate and plinth removed, I intend to tackle this little job tomorrow as the cars without the plinth look infinatley better imo.

P.S. Sorry, looks like this topic had already been covered. The search feature on this forum isn't very good.

If you want to drop the plate down to (which I and many others have) so you get full air in through the grill you may want to get a new plate made up as you'll have the old holes in the plate.

Once I get a new plate and give the girl a good wash it will look great, I was affraid of going near her with my grubby spanners but needn't have worried, if I can do it anyone can biggrin

No worries, T30 refers to the type and size T = a standard Torx bit, 30 = the size
