Hello All,
I've been lurking here for some time, having driven a couple of 4.3 V8V's on track in 2009/10 - it took all but 5 minutes behind the wheel for this to become my dream car, for all the well documented reasons. There seems to be a really friendly community here too -which further bolsters the appeal.
The market seems to start at around £36k for a private 40k mile example and up to £43k for similar at a main dealer - so the main input I am looking for is; should I be reverting to "book" retail / private prices (CAP / Glasses) as an indication of true market value and as a basis for negotiation?
The second question is how do people perceive the 1-3 year depreciation outlook on a well maintained 2006 (for instance) V8V? I will be purchasing outright so it's useful to know what my "investment" (I know!!) might be worth down the line.
Many thanks in advance - looking forward to joining the club!

Hello Kris and welcome.
Your best guide to the true Market value is to trawl through the ads. Pistonheads classifieds, Auto Trader, and the Aston Martin website. That should give you an idea of the current value. It seems to fluctuate and depends on the options, colour and mileage mainly.
As for future values... My guess (and it is a guess!) is that the Vantage will level out around the 38 - 40 K Mark providing you get the options, colour and mileage right and maintain it correctly.
Happy hunting! I found that aspect fun.

Thanks Ice and Quinny,
It's an exciting prospect - I am determined to be disciplined about "my" spec.
The values seem to be quite variable, although I've seen a couple of what look to be good cars advertised recently under £37k, which once you add in the inevitible negotiation could mean a pretty good deal.
For me the meteorite grey brings out the shape the best, it would be nice to find one with cream or black leather with some highlight stiching to lift the interior, but they seem to be on the newer (and out of reach) cars.
Autotrader and the PH classified's are bookmarked
Cheers

I can only echo the above sentiments. There are a lot of good cars out there. Yes you may pay a dealer premium but also hopefully get a warranty which is important on an older car. FSH is important, but with independents like Rick at DMS, there are good people who will look after your car.
Its probably just a female thing but on two Aston buying experiences I knew the car for me after excluding many. Touch wood both have been the right decision.
Take your time and don't jump too eagerly
With Astons I think it is clear those that have been cherished and those that have been abused. I guess the same can be said of most cars. Stear clear of the latter.
Good luck.
