The Vanquish has a graunch going from 3rd to 4th during 'spirited' driving. Works service said it is a synchro and that the gearbox will go back to Germany for repair, at great cost and inconvenience, naturallly!

All Astons have only ever been worked on dealers or Works service, but now tempted to try a specialist. Can anyone recommend one with Vanquish experience to do the work instead?

Cheers
Rob

Rikki Cann looks after mine for me - www.rikkicann.com - and judging by the last time I was there, quite a few others too!

Pleased to say Aston Martin Sevenoaks have now replaced the gearbox FOC smile

Are the gearbox improvements relevant for the S, or a normal Vanquish only? Still keen for a more responsive change.

Only knowing these types of boxes without this specific model, the changes could well be just software. The earliest Maserati 4200s could be made to shift like the last of the GranSports with a the plug in of a laptop!

A company did make a piggyback gearbox ECU however which sped things up tremendously.
