I am struggling with the seats in my V8V. They hurt my back, I already suffer lower back pain but normally after a few weeks my back gets used the seats but not this time frown

The seats in my car are the later style and cream but seem quite hard.

I went back to the dealer the other week and sat in a couple of cars, a DB9, 2 V8V Coupes and a V8V Roadster.

Out of the5 seats two were very comfy and softer than my seats, black and blue the others grey and dark tan were the same as mine, ie quite hard and uncomfortable

I have been messing about with pillows but I am getting to the point that my enjoyment of the car is being spoilt as after half hour driving my back is starting to twinge and give pain down my legs.

Just wondering how others get on with their seats?

I haven't had problems with the V8V (also 07) seats, but have previously with Porsche seats.
I found raising the seat slightly so that my legs were not quite so horizontal helped quite a bit - may be worth trying ?

Other than playing around with different settings the seats in a V12 Vantage are notably more comfortable.

The accelerator pedal does have a substantial amount of travel, are you overextending your right leg?

Good luck in resolving the issue to your satisfaction.

Exactly which seats do you have?
Mine has the later sport seats with twin lumbar supports & two stage heating.
It took me a while to find the perfect position (thankful for the memories wink )

Do your seats have the adjustable lumber supports? If so, try adjusting them.

Peter - sounds like a bit of sciatica?

Me too.

Sounds really daft, but perhaps some stretches before getting in smile

Don't take this the wrong way, but it's not the seats...it's your back. I have every sympathy as I have just recovered from spinal surgery to get rid of my siatica.

Get yourself a good physio that specialises in lower back troubles, exercise and stretches.

I have an 07MY V8V and the seats are hard but very supportive and I have no problems with them.

Good luck.

I have suffered a bad back including sciatica for over 20 years and do regular exercises plus visits to a chiro. This is the first time I have had problems. (Before bying the car a few people on other forums whohad driven the V8V had commented on the seats being a problem)

I have owned a lot of cars and maybe the first 2 weeks I may have problems but soon settled down. I also have a Caterham with solid fibre glass seats with the only addition of a lumbar roll and they are very comfy and fine for many hours.

BTW was you back opp a microdiscectomy?

There will be no fee's applicable and I would like to inform you that I have no affiliation with the organisation that I will recommend you get in touch with....... http://www.cushionsonline.co.uk/

I could never get comfy in the later sports seats either (in my 4.7 V8V) and often ended up with backache or numb legs after prolonged driving sessions.

The lightweight CF seats in the V12V are very very comfy however. Quite surprising as on face value you would expect them to be less comfy than the sports seats.

Not really a solution howver as the cost of switching to the lightweight seats is several thousand pounds I believe.

One other thing I have noticed is the seat squab is short compared to other seats. Could do with an optional bit at the front that can be pulled out like the BMW sport seats.

Joking aside - Can anyone give any reccomendation is separate bolsters or soft lumbar support ie memory foam?

A bit of an update for those who may be interested........
Did 400 miles in 2 days and things are getting better. I raised the seat as per marceld's suggestion, and played about with the lower lumbar leaving the upper one deflated and I managed about a 100 miles before any pain, then added a small cushion where the base meets the upper and got all the way to Breamar. Did the same on the way back and all ok.

So I think I just need to keep driving it.

On an aside I managed 23.5 MPG smile Admittedly I took it fairly easy averaging about 60MPH as the girlfriend does not like me driving too fast ļ

That's good news.
I also saw somebody buying a 'memory foam' cushion at Halfords the other day. That may be worth trying.

Seat position is critical in these cars, and also not always intuitive (e.g. a taller driver may need to move the seat forwards and drop it to the rear to get comfy).

It's worth persevering and trying various different settings. Even small tweaks can make a massive difference.

When I first tried a car, I almost dismissed it immediately as the interior felt very small. Spent 10mins fiddling the seat position and it was night and day.
