Hi Guys,

I know this question has been asked many times from my search, but not so much on the latest 4.7 Vantage. This time next week, i could be the proud owner of a 2009 Aston Martin Vantage 4.7

Before I take the plunge I must reassure myself by asking you guys (in the real world) the following question:
Are these cars reliable as a daily drive?

I realize forums can be dangerous places, generally 90% of the noise by 10% of the people. Those 10% usually speak out when something is wrong, while the 90% enjoy trouble free motoring. But you do hear horror stories of Astons going wrong. Being towed home. Are these now all stories of the past with the new generation of Astons?

I'm used to a car that can be a handful, having just sold my previous daily drive 2009 Corvette ZR1 (previous Corvette Z06). I do many airport runs for my international business trips abroad, so need a car I can rely on. Something that will start on the button come rain, shine or snow!

Thanks in advance.....Also I look forward to being a regular face in this forum from now on!

Welcome. Yes they are reliable in the main. Been on here for a couple of years and can't remember people posting up here with major problems on 4.7's. 4.3's have in the main been reliable, with a few niggles. Assuming the car has full service history with an Aston warranty the only major issue could be the clutch - and that will be down to the driving style of the previous owner(s).
Personally wouldn't leave mine parked in an airport car park, but then I'm a bit paranoid about where I leave mine (door dings etc). Only other thing to consider if leaving it at airports is the batteries aren't good if left for 2-3 weeks without charging / being run or having systems shut down.
And I'll be the first one here for once you've bought it - PICTURES!! wink

modern Astons are proving as reliable as Fords...they were originally designed/built to meet Ford group durability etc

they are not Italian supercars with headline BHP figures and short service intervals

relatively lightly stressed and 10K intervals like a regular car

my 5 year old Vantage is in for its 60K service at the end of the month, its had a new thermostat (£170), a coolant sensor (£20) and a few niggles in the early days under warranty

other than that its £270 or £650 a service at indy, consumables similar to a German saloon

so absolutely no issue with using it daily, other than you soon become blase about it, take it for granted, and "the norm" is an Aston every day

You mentioned airport trips.
They don't like being left for long periods, there is so much electronics in them AM actually built a cut off switch in and put a trickle charge socket in them!

Thanks guys so far. Usually trips away are from 3 - 7 days max. Corvettes suffer from the same battery drain problem, so I was used to keeping a battery conditioner on the car when at home.
Over 10 years of custom at that car park, they reserve a lovely safe spot for me smile

Yes yes...as soon as she arrives I'll be posting lots of pictures!
