Hi

There's quite a few "early" 4.7 V8Vs around at the moment, many with quite low mileages, but I'm wondering whether it's worth paying a few grand more for a newer car, even if it's a bit more leggy. Obviously there's the advantage of more warranty, but I know Aston have gradually improved their QC processes over recent years, so I'm wondering if a later car (e.g. late 09 or 10) is noticeably better than an early one (08, early 09).

"Buy on condition" is the mantra, of course, but build quality is more than skin deep, and it'd be interesting to know if people's experiences are better with the later cars. AFAIK there's no physical difference between an early 4.7 and a late one, so it's really just how they're screwed together! Or are all 4.7s just totally brilliant anyway?!

Because the teething problems were worked out with the 4.3 (very, very early on) there will be no reason to worry about a 4.7.

wavey Bachi in place of the 360? Come and have a look at mine if you like.

Mine is one of the very first customer 4.7's, it now has 19k miles on it. Still looks like new inside & out. As you say buy on condition.
From the conversations I've had with new 4.7 owners recently they are seeing the same sort of issues mine has been through. So I'd say the 4.7's are all much of a muchness in terms of quality.
Don't be drawn in to a garage queen because the mileage is low wink
Look out for some bargains due to "brave" colours and poor options

you know me.....not worried about miles at all, in fact would prefer one that has been properly run in.
It's to take the strain off the 360...with so many tours this and next year the old girl needs a bit of a rest occasionally.

Thanks for the response. Slighty OT, but what issues have you had?

Rattling windows in the doors
Boot lock failed
Water in wing indicators
Play in drivers seat adjustment
Wear on convertible roof middle support spar
TPMS throwing random errors (very common frown )
Delaminated head light plastic (may have been previous owner using stick on beam deflectors)
Seized pen laugh seriously!
Two fuel pressure sensor error warning (reset myself and cleaned throttle not returned - yet wink )
Squeaky rear brakes
Corroding wing mirror mounts
Corroding brake rotors
Corroding rear grill
Flaking bonnet grill

Nothing serious wink

Bloody hell! Quite a bit then.
Going to look at a leggy "ex Aston Martin owned" car tomorrow, so I'll make sure I check the pen!

I am very picky/fussy with cars.
At this sort of money I expect EVERY niggle to be sorted by them under warranty.
When I bought it from a dealer they had a 21 point action list before I would take delivery laugh

Was that a 21 point action list that you compiled after inspecting the car before delivery/final payment.
