Evening all, my V8V is in for it's service and I've asked the dealer to fit locking wheel nuts. He implied I was in a bit of a minority with bothering with this trivial security and it made me wonder if that is in fact the case!

I have to say, I've had the car for 6 months and only realised they weren't fitted recently - it's an optional extra. It also occurs to me that other people may not realise this either...

Anyway, I keep the car garaged and don't tend to leave it anywhere dodgy but curious as to whether people think I'm wasting my money!

paperbag I have them, but my car does live outside and for the relatively minor cost it seemed a good idea.

Good luck claiming on your insurance if your wheels are stolen and you dont have locking nuts. Taking all reasonable measures to prevent loss includes basic precautions that are considered usual, ie locking nuts. Would not consider parking car without them

good for insurance purposes, but its real low risk anyway ...never heard of anyone nicking them and its not like there are millions on ebay

...not a big enough market for thieves ...and not many Aston owners are getting in touch with the steal to order market for new rims LOL wink

never had any...it lived outside in Essex for 3 years just fine wink

I bet there are plenty of young gentlemen who wouldn't be adverse to trying them out on a Vauxhall Corsa biggrin

Thanks for all the feedback.

A week or so after I bought my car I was shocked to discover I didn't have any and ran to buy some straight away. I park on streets in London too often to not have some, especially with these fancy diamond cut alloys and all the horror pictures you see.

Just leave the car in the street in the south of France eg Marseilles.
I think you might think differently.
It has been observed an Aston DB9 windows being smashed and police watching just shugging shoulders!!!!!!
Let alone the wheels.....get those locking wheel nuts.

I've been told of a few going missing in London, apparently orders for lockers at dealers are on the rise.

Just picked up some mcgards for 35 quid - no brainer IMO

It's not only the alloys but the tyres they are after

Hi jonamv8,

Mind saying where you got them?

I spoke to Demon Tweeks who asked McGard whilst I held on the phone, and McGard say they haven't got any to fit a V8V.

Was it the 24205 set you got?

Best,

Simon.

Not really get a set of 7 sided light weight nuts like this

http://www.s2carbonworks.com/hetilugnuset.html

I had them on my S2000 - super light!

My car has the sport pack with standard nuts are you sure they are titanium nuts on yours?

24205 don't fit, they are far too long, I had to send those back for the 24024 replacements which are open ended and require a cap placing over them, a little similar to some BMW lockers.

I got my Sports Pack wheels from a broken DB9 Le Mans, it came with steel nuts. Purchased the Ti ones on the Bay for £235 which is not too ridiculous...

FYI, the Ti nuts don't fit 2008 models onwards on the DB9. Can't say with Vantages...
