Hi there my name is Ben and July last year I brought my first Aston Martin V8 Vantage !!! After having a mixture of fast Audi's Bmw's and Tvr's I took the decision to get on board the best marque out there. This is my first posting as a Aston owner as since I brought my Aston I have been so busy there hasn't been any time to say hello!!! so with great enthusiasm I wanted to introduce myself and my car.
I brought her privately through Pistonheads sales and have been very very happy since my purchase.
She has had the engine upgrade and a cat back milltek exhaust which cuts a good 15+ kilos from her weight. But I am selling the exhaust as I plan to upgrade the exhaust for a full quicksilver number !!! so if anyone is interested in a three month old Milltek cat back system please contact me. I do have plans to further increase her power and performance and wondered if anyone had some other advice which actually helps !!! rather than mythical shenanigans !!!!
Also for future servicing where would anyone suggest I live near Southampton so wondered if there is an alternative to main dealers and their rather high prices, she is a 07 year so wondered if it is a must to have full Aston service history or a good specalist service ? does it affect her value ?

Hi, welcome! I can't help with your questions unfortunately, I'm not an owner but I'm sure someone will be along soon.

Beautiful car though, the red calipers look great.

Thanks it took me a while to find what I think is a great looking car!!! There is something quite nostalgic about a classic green on a Aston, I might be a little bias!!!

They may be main dealers, but I can highly recommend Harwoods of Chichester.

Thank you for massaging my ego !! It’s Aston Green "Very Traditional" It’s really what made me choose this car. For me it really is the best. And the anthracite wheels and red calipers finish it !!! I have been to Chichester Aston and the guys there are really nice but ....... nice is over priced and doesn’t seem to add any extra holding value to the car ? Maybe I am a little sceptical but in the past my experience with main dealers was similar. As long as the service has been carried out using the correct "genuine parts" that has to be the single most important thing ?
I plan to keep the car for many years so resale residual value isn’t of concern, I just want to get the best value/ service for what is my true pride and joy !! (after my wonderful wife of course !!! )

I got the exhaust in February !! I was a tad impatient !!! To say the least !! its so much lighter than the standard system, and also makes a truly hairs on the back of your neck sensation !!! But after having a Audi TT RS and of course a couple of TVRs You can always need a little more power !!so ..... I have been searching for the Holy Grail that is more POWER !!! With out corrupting the essence that is a truly great grand tourer. I have spoken to Bamford Rose and they give me confidence to trust them with my "baby Aston" For me I really want more accessible mid range torque. Some thing that pulls throughout the whole rev range. So Plans to do a straight through exhaust is part of stage one so after a very short time I am selling the Milltek cat back exhaust. I have had quite a bit of interest as it really is a nice bit of kit.

My Milltek is growing on me.
At first when I collected my car I thought it still had a standard exhaust and I considered it a touch too quiet. Then I had a look and was surprised to find the Milltek complete with motorsport cats. I don't think the new owner will be branded a Boy Racer with this system.
Is the header upgrade incompatible with the Milltek exhaust. I quite fancy another 15bhp smile

Hi thanks for the thread I have seen/spoken to Mike at Bamford and rose and I am really quite excited with what they can offer.
For me personally I want a more punchy drive !!! I need more adrenaline...!!! of course there are always considerations. Has anyone had their engine enlarged from the 4.3 to 4.7 ? Could I be the first ? There has always been the old adage which is “there is no replacement for displacement!!!!" the larger the better !! My uncle use to have a Jenson Interceptor mark 111 with a massive 7.3 v8 !! oh yes !!!! What a noise and in its time a truly great grand tourer. He also looked at super charging it !! Fool but brave!!! There is a truly fabulous really fabulous well balanced gem within.

Agreed.

Makes me wonder why then if you were selling your car through McGurk's 'sell your car' hyperlink they seem to be intent on only dealing with cars that have had a Main Dealer Service History.

Have approached them for a viewpoint but still awaiting a reply.

Just give them a call, thats the fastest way. I know they have used rick in the past, though i dont know if it was for a service.

@pommehogster: Well done on the new purchase. If your car needs any work, go to ricks, they offer a second to none service and you will also get to see tonys car in the toilet. Come to think about it, it could be the green car wall!

I found chasing horspower in cars addictive, and you get used to it quite quickly ...if you drive the same car as routine daily, bolt on 50bhp, within a week it becomes the norm, and you are thinking about the next 50bhp wink

so my logic is if you really just want to go fast, Id spend £20K on a nice trackday car as well ..or get a motorbike ..or just drive something slower during the week and save the Aston for the weekends smile

Did I see you driving on the A3 toward Wandsworth on Sunday? Reg ** VCE?

Can't be that many Aston Racing Green V8s about smile

Was in a qhite 964 Targa by the way, my DB9 (Chiltern Green) is in the garage sadly, that would have made a good photo.
