Now that the East Coast (US) is warming up, I have noticed that my external temp display is reading very high for the 1st few minutes after the car is parked. I would not car but the A/C starts pumping out cold air until the outside temp falls. Example it is 70F (21C)outside and the outside temp will read 95-100F (35C) and then take about 5 min to lower to the "real" temp. I assume that the temp sensor is being heated by the sun, where is the sensor? Is this "normal"? My workaround is to turn the climate control off for a few min and then turn it on.

I wouldn't have thought the aircon operates on the outside temp, but on the inside one!

The outside temp register being high after parking is normal...probably heat soak from the engine etc. Or the sun beating down on the sensor.

The outside temp going high is normal (pretty dumb, but normal). The A/C does use the inside temp, so it shouldn't be affected.

The OAT sensor is affected by heat from the engine when the car is stationary - it will become more accurate once on the move.

Your sensor is positioned just behind the front grille.

The problem could be associated with any of the above issues.

Or it could just be on its way out.

It is indeed a common problem. Mine has just given up the ghost and is being replaced on Thursday under the original warranty smile

Mine's be showing 42-47 degrees for the last month. Only anecdotal but it *does* seem to affect the aircon as maintaining a 20 degree cabin temperature is now tricky as in "AUTO" mode it tends to blow cold air, even if the real outside temp is only 10-15
