Guys

Any idea how much it costs to renew the AM warranty for one year after the factory warranty expires?

I think it needs the multi point check first?

cheers!!

From memry the check costs about £350 but I suggest you get them to do it when they do the year service, They will then reduce the cost

The Warranty is about £1200

No they wouldnt give the charge back , however if you use your dealer for servicing etc, then some will do the check FOC.

blackice1 - is the warranty cost £1200? I tried to phone up my local AM dealer for a straight answer, but they kept dodging it for some reason!

Was £1100 last year. As Blackice says you will normally get the inspection free if you get the car serviced at the same time.
Take your time and read the warranty document it does NOT cover all components in the car. Major exclusions are the entertainment / electrical stuff inside the cabin.

My new (06) Vantage, is under AM warranty until August this year..smile but after talking with a specialist, I've decided not to renew, and instead, put the £1200 renewal fee into a separate account...

The car only has 14k on the clock, and his advice was that, the most likely failures or issues aren't covered anyway....so better off putting the funds to one side just in case...

My plan is to do this every year, so if I do get a big failure down the line, hopefully I'll have the funds to cover it
This is my plan as well.

My 06 V8V (19k miles) has had the following work undertaken under my extended warranty:

Replacement rear light cluster due to failing LEDs (£500)
Replacement front light unit due to failing LEDs (£1500)
Two wheel bearings (£ ???)
Boot lock mechanism (£ ???)
Faulty cruise control (£ ???)
Leaking washer reservoir (£ ???)

So £1100 well spent in hindsight. Since I've saved at least that much again, I'm going to buy another year when this one runs out ... anything else crops up, then I'm in the money.

its just insurance after all...some will be better off, but majority will lose - just statistics...they are not in the business of losing money on these policies wink

Im near 60K miles on my Jan 06 car, had a thermostat, wheel bearing, coolant sensor, so Im well up versus £4-5K in aftermarket warranty cost savings so far....

My AM dealer has offered me a free pre-warranty inspection by their technicians to see if anything needs doing before the warranty expires on my DB9.

I have pointed out that they are in fact 12 months early as I'm still well within my 3 year original warranty.

Would I be wise to take them up on this offer in, say, 11 months time OR am I being suckered here????

Literally sat in a Starbucks waiting on my V8V to finish having some warranty work done - only resetting the tire pressure monitoring system due to faulty sensor.
My extended warranty runs out in May but as my car has literally clocked over the 5 year point, I can't extend on the normal "extended warranty" anymore. It would have cost £347 for an inspection (wavered if serviced by the sale dealer) and then £1199 for another year (up from £1099 last year).
Over 5 years old my options are for a £1400 warranty that covers much less. Suffice to say, I won't be bothering. Only thing I've used my warranty for (apart from today's sensor) is replacing the thermostat - which seems pretty standard on 4-5 year old cars.
