Heading to the Lake District this weekend from Cambridge in the V8V Roadster. Anyone recommend a must see or must drive road whilst there?

One road to try - Wrynose Pass is a minor road which with the Hard Knott Pass, joins Little Langdale to Eskdale in Cumbria.

I have be down it in a 911, an M3, an Alfa GTV and an XK8 (and a TR7 if I admit to it) but yet to take an Aston - fun drive.

Not an Aston owner, but love driving in the Lakes - can I contribute? If you do Wrynose and Hardknott passes I'd recommend then turning left onto the Birker Fell road which is a belter, then loop back to Coniston on the A593. Watch the A593 though, it's a fast road but there are some serious yumps, some of them on corners.

The passes mentioned above are awesome and I've also done them in every car I've owned, but they're more of a scenic challenge than a rewarding driving road though, they're very tight (watch your splitter) and there will be too much traffic for a clean run unless you're very early. There isn't really anywhere you can hoon for long in the Lake District but it's a lovely place to see.

Honister and Whinlatter passes are also worth a visit (and will probably suit your car a little better). If you like a challenge there is "The Struggle" up from Ambleside to the Kirkstone pass.

Have fun!

Some vids of mine to give you an idea:

Route from Ambleside linking them together

Pete - there is also a fantastic road in Cumbria called the M6.

If you stay on it, you can actually bypass the entire area.

Once it becomes the M74 you will notice some of the best scenery in the world.

It's called SCOTLAND.

I completely agree with the add-ons for the driving experience - go do it !

"Scotland"? I thought that was there just to keep the waves off England biggrin

Unfortunately Im at a wedding on sat or I would show you around the Lovely Lakes.
If you get chance on Sunday call at Devils Bridge. I know its primarily a place for bikes on a Sunday but a nice car is always appreciated.
Its about 5 miles or so from J36. Head east on the A65. Just watch out for the speed cameras when you get into Kirby Lonsdale.
