DB9 How do the doof caps and speaker covers come off?

I want to take the entire mirror assembly off to get the metal triangular mounts resprayed. Pop of the inner plastic traingle as it is just a push fit, undo the 2 star screws holding the assembly to the door and the entire unit lifts off. But, as the wiring for the mirrors runs down behind the speaker cover and there doesn't seem to be a convenient wiring conector box on the loom that can been seen, I assuming that its inside the door itself. So to investigate further I need to remove the grill over the speaker and also remove the wood door caps but I can't for the life of me see how they come off. I can undo the screw tucked up under the recess of the speaker cover where it is shaped to fit around the dash when the door is closed but this doesn't appear to help. Anyone seen the covers and caps removed and can point me in the right direction or does anyone know if there is a wiring conector box for the mirrors inside the door so that it can be removed as a unit?
