Wilmslow never charged me a fee for the deposit but I paid debit card for the other £88,000.

I only ever use a cashback card as well.

There are situations whereby the section 75 protection is worthwhile but you don't get many Astons valued between £100 and £30,000.

I was told that any payment over £1000 would incur a 2% charge...
They had no problems me using 4 different cards to put £4000 deposit down which was good for various cashback / points etc wink

Yes they were going to charge a fee when I wanted to pay for the service on credit card. When told of this, I said I'd write a cheque instead. At which point the credit card fee was waived.

Sounds like a crazy head office dictat which the guys on the ground are required to try on but have a discretion to waive on a case by case basis if it becomes problematic.

Incidentally, I'd like to add that I have been getting a really good service out of my dealer recently. There is a sense of passion and caring for the cars and of wanting to help the customer.

Lucky the deposit wasn't £10000 you've had to whip out 10 different cards. (Aston owners carry that many?)

They would have taken £1000 deposit, but I thought there was an opportunity there smile

Damn, why didn't I think of that. I only got £10 of cashback instead of your £40.

I put down £2500 deposit with Broughtons; I said that I could do it by American Express only right then and there or it was coming back another day and they took it. biggrin
