DB7 Vantage Gearbox Warning Light - Help Please (Rick?)
Discussion
Hi all, last week the battery on my DB7 Vantage gave up the ghost. I fitted a new one today and on start up the Gearbox Warning (auto Transmission) light has come on (orange). I haven't put the car into D or R for fear of doing some damage. The only "odd" thing that may have caused the light to come on is that I had to move the car a few feet a couple of days ago and the dud battery had enough power in it for me to turn the ignition on, put my foot on the brake and move the stick to N. The car was then pushed back and forwards a few feet.
Could this have "fooled" the system into thinking there is a fault? Plus is it OK to drive.
Any help/ advice appreciated.

Steve, here is Rick's "fix" and it worked for me, good luck.
"firstly start the car up as normal and just let it tick over for a few minutes, then move the selector lever through all positions holding in each one for about 10 seconds going from park right through them all and back again to park stopping at each position again for 10 seconds, Switch off, restart, give her a test run if there is a serious fault the car will go into a limp mode to protect itself, if it does this please get it recovered to the garage, If all ok the warning should clear by itself."

I remember when my gearbox light came on in my 7...
Thought a drive might clear it but no. In fact backing off the throttle had no effect, the car just continued to accelerate flat out. You soon find out that the brakes are stronger than the engine thankfully and managed eventually to convince the box in was in N eventually before we ran out of road.
Gearbox ECU replaced at £1500 and problem went away.
Beware jump starts on TouchTronic I boxes is my advice!
