Depends what you're looking for.... I went last year with a group of about 15, camped in the grounds of Chateau Chanteloup which is about 15km away.
Saw the start from Arnage, good parking, good view, easy to get to, saw some evening/night racing from the main circuit, night racing from behind Dunlop bridge overlooking the S's was good. Saw the last couple of hours from the Mulsanne straights. All in all, great. Really enjoyed the Great British Car show, put together but people that just turn up but such an amazing array (not just british i would say) of hundreds of beautiful and rare cars and the drivers parade in le mans on the friday afternoon was also great. If you want to head to the parade, get there before the crowds swarm through, we had a waitressed table next to the route, was superb.
Had a great time and will be back....

Back this year - doing it the credit crunch way with budget hotels in UK and a campsite , (only one Chateau on the way down.) My advise is don;t rush you have at least 24 hours - I like the night racing at Arnage - you can rock up at around 3 am when the crowds have thinned and get a good view
.Try and get away early on Sunday - traffic can be hellish and you usually get delayed by a recovery lorry bailing out a couple of t-ss--rs driving ferraris who have crashed racing each other

I'm heading back for a third year, first in the V8V tho. Convoy including M6, Impreza RA, Noble and a couple of others.
Staying on Porsche curves for second time, did chateau chantaloup first time round.
Booked thru travel destinations, AM trip too expensive for others in group, and me come to think of it.
Can't wait...

This will be my 22nd consecutive visit. I'm camping in Houx.
The first time I went the bloody AMR1 V8 rumbling kept me awake all night. Thankfully there were a few non-AM years (mind you the Mazda Rotary was a bit annoying) then the bloody AM V12's started screaming around all night. Should be nice and quiet this year.

Yer will be there again, 15th year for me, 5th for my Aston. The best advice (although don't tell everyone) is book a table for dinner on the Saturday night at the restaurant at the end of the pit lane on the inside of the track. FANTASTIC place! You can have a nice dinner over looking the track and then head to the balcony for drinks over looking the nigh time pit action...perfect! Also head to the parade Friday night, get to the bar under the Cathedral and climb over the fence to walk around with the drivers and the super cars on parade...cannot wait.
Main top tip tho, keep to 159 Kph on the payage and have loads of 90 euro's bundled up to give the tax collector that will stop you.
Enjoy...it is fantastic..

He's not joking.
I've been nicked three time in France, last at 160kph.
According to the last gendarme I discussed this with, limit +30k = 90 Euros. Limit +31 = 700 (yes, seven hundred) euros.
Course, they've got to catch you.
