Hi guys,

There is an event called Dad's Day Out that will be held at Dunsfold Aerodrome (The Top Gear track) on Saturday May 14th.. This will be the third year, and it is all for charity.

Basically the day consists of 100 or so supercars doing laps of the circuit, and selling passenger rides to raise money. There are also loads of events and displays.

I went last year and took my 6 year old son...we both had a great day out, and took advantage of things like helicopter rides, kid's go karts etc..

Last year (when I was a 911 owner), my car was part of the static display, whereby around 20 911's parked together amidst the rest of the car clubs that were there... everything from MG's to Lambo's.

I am talking with one of the organisers about having an Aston Martin static display, and just wanted to get a feel if people would be interested in being part of the display? If nothing else it will be a great meet (I haven't met anyone in person yet) - plus there are all of the side events and a hundred supercars doing laps!

I think if we are to be part of the display though, we need to be there reasonably early, and need to commit to being there for quite a while, as they don't want everyone leaving, and driving through the people that are admiring our prides and glory!

Anyhow - please share your thoughts below...
Simon

I'll be there, great event last year. I'm not sure at this stage though whether I'll be in my AM though (lack of passenger seats). The meet tonyhall38 is arranging at Hever Castle is just a month afterwards too.

This sounds a good idea, i feel the child seat being moved from the smart to the Aston.

Sorry for the delay - the organiser having already spoken re a static display, hasn't got back to me yet....and as time is ticking I am beginning to think this may not happen. I believe though that it is more of an oversight, as I know these guys have a lot of preperations to make.

Anyway, if the Static Display does not happen - would be good to try to meet a few, and possibly park up together for an unofficial static disply!

Sounds like a plan.

Before we go too far with that is there an official PistonHeads stand? I used a link on this site that allowed me to buy tickets to the event at a reduced rate, which was for this site and other car clubs. That made me wonder whether there was going to be a PistonHeads stand.

In fact looking at my ticket it says “car club display ticket holders should arrive before 8:30am” It then goes on to say “on entry please state which car club you are a member of and you will be directed to your display area”.

Anyone know the answer?

Whatever the position, would be great if the Astons could park together.

Ok - Looks like we can still get in for a static diplay at Dad's Day Out on 14th May, if we have enough takers.

Ideally we would need 10-15 minimum, though I seem to remember previoulsy 20 is perfect.

Being part of teh static displlay means getting there early, and committing to stay for a good part of the day.

So - If anyone is interested, put your names down below.

This is the sort of thing we need more of in the AM forum. Its great to see someone making an effort
and this should be fully supported. I'm on holliday $%^%%^&&* so will be unable to attend !!! otherwise I would have been there.

I hope this goes well so more people are minded to arrange events for AM owners more often.
I have arranged an event with Greewoood exhibitions at woburn. They are very interested in having an AM stand at there shows in the future.
I may well do some more organising if all goes well at my first event.
Good luck with this.

I tend to arrange multi marque meets all the time, most of them go into the Events meets sections as they are general but of course AM's are always welcome.

Not sure about the cross posting rules but I'm happy to mention them in here every now and then if that helps?

Actually, one important point is that you will get discounted entry to the event.
£7 per car and all occupants instead of £7 per person in advance and £8 per person on the day

We did this as a sort of thank you for helping to support the event and improve it thus raising more money for the charity.
Because it is a charity , i felt comfortable asking display cars to pay as well as a donation, as the event itself is well worth the entry fee alone (had it been a commercial event then it would have been a little more of a grey area if you know what I mean)

anyway, enough babbling this is the link you need
http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/shop.asp?itemi...

tickets must be bought in advance as they car club display tickets will be taken offline a few days in advance. If you don't get them in advance you'll have to pay the £8 per person on the day to enter the event

Hope that helps?

Regards
Bachi

Anyone else interested in this event?

I'll have a bit of an announcement on Monday for an attraction which will be a lot of fun for car clubs.
I may also be looking for another Aston to drive on the day too....

Go on then! I thought I'd be coming in the Mini, but Aston it will be. Not on the track though but happily on display.

Buying now.

ETA: It took me 10 times to get Captcha right, I hate that thing.

And now it's said "Your payment is taking some time to process." for 3 minutes.

Which clearly isn't right.

This has been a quite frankly shocking internet ordering process, might just be easier to pay at the gate if this doesn't work.

ETA: Right this is ridiculous, have been trying to buy my ticket for nearly 25 minutes now. I know they are a charity but if you can't make donations to them they're doing something really wrong.

The good news is that they've fixed their website so I've been able to pay.
