What is wrong with this car?
Discussion
I'm not in the market to change my car but for some reason my fingers keep taking me to the classified section to fantisize over various vehicles.
I had a quick look in the Aston section 'just out of interest' and saw this:-

It seems too cheap. It's black (popular colour) just been serviced with 9 months MoT. The next car up is on for £37k, so why is this so cheap?
It's dragging prices down!

Far be it from me to piss all over someone else's sale....but I considered this car for a short while......
I did my research and backed away...... Others must be doing the same, or it would've gone by now
I thought there must be something more too it. It's just too cheap to be a straight car.I did my research and backed away...... Others must be doing the same, or it would've gone by now

Damage to the bonnet / stone chips. Damage to the offside front wing.
Over £3k to repair / respray
Have you seen the car in person? I'm not sure I can see those things from the ad? I might be missing something....Over £3k to repair / respray
There are no photos of the interior, and none of the items mentioned are options, so it's possible there are none on the car. Which will make it harder to sell. If the seller needs out, you have your reasons...
Original Price £80,954
Franchised Dealer £35,755
Independent Dealer £34,335
Private Good £32,195
Private Poor £27,180
Part Exchange £28,995
seems about spot on if he wants a quick sale ...those Parkers prices seem a bit light for a low mileage mint car, but certainly not unrealistic if thats where the guy has got his price from...but of a limited market in NI I guess too.....

Try enlarging the photos.
No I haven't seen it, but can only assume the reason for the awful distance shot photos was to hide something.
They're only 640 x 480 pixels? Try zooming in to any meaningful extent and you'll see nowt but pixelation. No I haven't seen it, but can only assume the reason for the awful distance shot photos was to hide something.
There are some bits that *might* be marks, but not conclusive.
Yes, they're poor photographs. And it's definitely not got lovely tyre cleaner on the side walls etc. It might even have been driven just prior to photographing (God forbid). But it's considerably cheaper than anything else around.
There could be something wrong with it. The ad's not the best thought out. But if someone's in the market for one, it has to be worth a call to the owner, check the history, check the options. Ask for a couple of close ups perhaps?

I did just that....
I then spent an extra £6k on a different car.....
I didn't get to view the car, but the paperwork ensured I lost interest pretty quick...
This thread was the beginning of my enquiry...and as stated, there is no protection from doing an HPi check, and no other surefire way of getting protection......
For me it was just simpler to walk away

I actually contacted the guy myself about this car, things just didn't stack up with it, the mileage on the advert is wrong for a start and it was in the bodyshop having "a bit of work done" before it was ready.I then spent an extra £6k on a different car.....

My advice to anyone considering buying would be to stay well clear!
