the title may be slight OTT.. But I was a bit concerned to find this afternoon that my vantage has developed a slightly worrying case of incontinence.. smile

It also seems to have made me a bolt and left it on the floor under the rear axle..

Pictures of these two deposits are shown below...
On a serious note, would the position of the oil leak, dead centre between the front wheels indicate any particular culprit? Secondly, does anyone recognise the bolt? It seems to have two washers, one rubbery and the other is steel. Could it be from the rear under tray?

Any thoughts gladly received..

Thanks,

Richard.

The oil might be due to spillage after servicing . Is it clean? The bolt is more than likely a undertray bolt. Suggest a trip to the garage with a torch. I would stress that I am no expert, though reassurance on a Sunday night hopefully is usefull.

Rob

Hi Rob, yes it is clean... the car was serviced in September last year and has only done a few hundred miles since then. Today was the first venture out after being laid-up all winter. Drove about 100 miles today, as I didn't spot the oil on the floor until returning home.. No warning lights so I guess its not lost too much.. well you can see that from the picture anyway.

Thanks for replying...

Richard.

Hi I do not recognise that bolt either from the transmission, undertray or something related, difficult from the pictures to tell if that is engine oil, but the colour does seem to dictate this, could be some residual spillage after service but unlikely, possibly from the timing cover, we nip these up every service but do find the odd one this does not cure.

Hi Rick,
thanks for responding... The car has been sat in the garage for 4 months... The oil looks like its engine oil. I'll check again in a day or two.

Not sure what to make of the bolt.. It could be something I dropped before putting the cat in to hibernation... It lives in a Carcoon over winter so it would have been sealed in since the beginning of November. If you don't recognise it I'll assume it's off one of the numerous old Porsche 928 bits I have knocking around.

Thanks again

Richard

You hibernate your cat?
