Shock horror......NEW SAT NAV
Discussion
Can it be true our much loved, easy to use and perfect navigator friend is being replaced......why
About time
Yes Garmin will shortly be guiding Astons everywhere (although the dash interface will be the same, no touch screens!): future owners may now actually arrive at the right place, starting with those driving a Virage

No, no, no, there is nothing wrong with the AM sat nav I always use it.
What other car allows you to input your destination (even if it should only be 20 miles) and then calculates that it will be 140 miles, takes 3 hours and mostly on A roads.
Its all part of the AM experience; enjoyment of the car and if you have your other half with you she can never understand why journeys take so long and why I spend so much time driving it.
I will keep the old one.......

On the case.... Have started asking questions in high places. Hope to inspect car soon with Garmin NAV. Have heard the screen is deeper, so may need to change top cover?? GPS pack tied into MOST? If it works, what in the hell are we all going to do with all the reduntant bits ???
Need to know what level of interest there is from prospective customers to see if worth developing.
All the best,

It is amazing to me none of you techy types have managed to fit a Tom Tom that rises up out of the dash - we would pay hundreds if not thousands for such a solution. Who is Garmen anyway - any good ? I see the dwarf swan has one fitted.
I have looked into this last year. It's really not that simple if you want to control it with the orginal center console buttons. You need some very small and reliable OEM linux box plus of course a customizable sat nav library. I decided not to go further at some point.Lets hope the Garmin solutions is a retrofit. If they have to exchange part of the center console, that's fine with me, mine is rattling anyway.

So, just paid about £1700 to have one built in, now thinking about having a £100 unit fitted as a replacement. Guess that will be £1000 for fitting. OK, I think I'm getting the hang of Aston ownership.
Not that easy as its integrated into the car's MOST system. Most TomTom's these days are touch screen, so another downside - tall drivers would not be able to reach the screen.I have successfully managed to 'integrate' my Smartphone with TomTom software onto the Aston SatNav. Well I say 'integrated' more like one of those phone holders with the sucker - stuck on the front of the Aston Satnav screen.
Perfect place to have it though - as you only have to drop your eyeline a fraction from the road to see the map.
Garmin sell more standalone satnavs these days than TomTom, got some nice fetures on the high end ones.
