I had my first wash of my newly acquired 09 Vantage this last weekend. I found out the my asortment of wheel brushed did not work will with the sportswheels, nor did using my hand with a rag because of the lack of clearance by the caliper and heat shield. Has anyone found out a effectively cleaning methodology.

Depending on how much I want to spend on my wheels:

I start with:

P21S GEL version Wheel Cleaner w/sprayer
http://www.eshine.ca/p21s_gel_version_wheel_cleane...
(Spray this on your Rims first, follow instructions. Had to issues on my Aston Rims, so you can trust the stuff)

Boar’s Hair Wheel and Rim Brush

EZ Detail Brush Mini
http://www.eshine.ca/ez_detail_brush_mini-3051.php...
(This is my favourite, gets in and cleans really well, comes in two sizes)

Laitner Grip-It Two Loop Wheel Brush
http://www.eshine.ca/laitner_grip_it_two_loop_whee...
(For finer detail, this brush works well, I also use paint brushes)

Hope that helps.

Jack,

I use Griots Garage (http://www.griotsgarage.com/category/car+care/wheels+%26+tires/wheel+tire+cleaning+tools.do) stuff, and it works well. I use the Wheel Cleaner, the Lambskin Four Finger Mitt for the rim, hub and spoke, a boars hair brush that looks like a big paint brush (which I don't see on the website anymore) for between the spokes and around the lug nuts, the Long Reach Wheel Scrubber Brushes for the inner wheel, and a small sponge to squeeze between the calipers and the wheel.

and once youve got them clean, get sealed with something to make it easier in future

had mine done 4 years ago with polymer from www.gtechniq.com ..had a couple of top ups since, but usually just soap n water and they wipe clean...never have to scrub them or use wheel cleaning stuff

Having spent many a long hour cleaning wheels try this suggestion. Go to any good quality Bike shop not motorcycle. Purchase a product called "Super Muc Off". The idea is you spray it on the dirt falls away. Unlike products like Gunk there is no odour plus the sprayed surface is left clean and shiny. I initially bought it for my racing bike. Anything that can tackle chain lubricant cannot be bad. Halfords sell it in 5 litre containers. There is no need for brushes etc. Give it a whirl !
