How to remove 09 MY Center Console
Discussion
I am want to run a wire to a switch that I am going to mount in the area of the "smokers kit" but need to remove the console. There is a good video on 6speed on how to remove the bits for a 2006-2007 Vantage. The key appears on removing the rear most trim piece in the older kit it just "prys up" does anyone know the steps to remover the rear piece and the storage box in the center.

Hi,Cant answer your question, but can you post the link to 6speed.
I have seen a DB9 console/radio removal on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCwOayN32-0
Found this for an 05-07:
"Lift up the cover over behind the seats that covers the battery and tool kit.
The long aluminum trim has about 5 screws holding in place and one bolt. Starting from the middle remove the first two screws. You will notice that one of the screws goes through a tab that sticks out from the console arm rest. All you need to do now is slide the arm rest towards the rear of the car and it will come off. You may need to remove a couple more of the screws holding down the aluminum trim to make it easier to slide the console cover back.
Once the arm rest trim is off, the rest of the DB9 video on Youtube is pretty much the same."

thanks to a comment sent my Jim, I removed the aluminium trim strip behind the seat but can not get the rear most pad removed. I have tried to pull back and lift without sucess and do not want to force anything. Can anyone help?
The bit I quoted was for an 05-07 Vantage which has a different centre console.Have a look at the parts list file linked below, (got it via MichaelV8V post) page 622 shows your centre console, although its still not easy to see how its removed. Most things clip in or slide and sometimes take a quite a pull or push before they move. You could give Rick at DMS a call.

Getting it out is easy..... Putting it back together is a complete pig!!!
in the small tray to the rear of the hinge for the centre console is a small piece of leather, backed by cardboard, concave shaped, that will lever out (a pointed hook tool is best for this, careful of scratching the leather). Remove the two T25 screws located underneath. Remove the rubber trim underneath the cupholder area and remove the two T25 screws under there. Slide the console back by 1/2" and then up. The lead for the Ipod connector is very short, as is the aux connector. Unclip these two and then disconnect the power connector from the back.
Re-assembly is the reverse of the above, however you will have noted that the front screws go into a plate that needs to be held in place whilst inserting screws from the top. Damn near impossible!!!! Stupid idea. Double sided tape and lots of luck come to mind. Be careful not to trap the Ipod cable and aux lead though.
Good luck and best regards,
James @ Paralight

Thanks, I came out quickly once I knew the proper sequence. I noticed the plate, in my car the plate had two washers on top of each treaded hole on the plate. So I need to put the plate in place and without disturbing the washers. Thanks for the information and the suggestion for double sided tape.
Paralight, Thanks again. I found an easy way to reinstall; by keeping the front plate and washers attached to the console with only a couple of threads holding it on and the unit slide in without issues. Now that I have done it, I think I could run the wire from the fuse panel, install the switch in the ash tray and put it back in a hour. I like the ability of turning on and off the exhaust flaps (fuse 22) with a touch of button that is in reach. I thought about the remote but it would be one more thing laying around.

With the V8 Coupe, it is quite straightforward, as you describe. If you have a DB9 or the Roadster, then it can be a bit more of a giggle.
If however you have Rapide........ Start with removing the rear seats etc, etc!!
Kind Regards,
James@Paralight
Do you have to remove the gear lever knob on manual cars?If however you have Rapide........ Start with removing the rear seats etc, etc!!
Kind Regards,
