Bearing in mind that 90% plus posts are Vantage inspired, should we consider asking to split the forum? I don't mean every model but maybe a section for 'General Aston', and another for Vantage's.

I only say this as the same Vantage questions crop up almost daily. No-one seems to look at FAQ's. Last post was July last year.

I sometimes feel that people ask about the other models, but occasionally their post gets drowned in the Vantage posts.

Just an observation!

Di

No. There is so much in common between the cars that Vantage-related points more often than not are of equal interest to DB owners.

maybe modern and classic AM forum?

or Vantage and then DB9/DBS/Rapide

but then it ends up fragmented and slow, a bit like AMOC in some areas

better off all in the same place I guess, until load more cars are sold over the years

Sorry, this is unnecessary. You should take a look on the Porsche forum where i used to be - a new topic would be on page 4 or 5 within hours! Splitting that forum was discussed at length but left as is due to popular demand.

This forum is quiet compared to Porsche. Can you not find the "next" button to take you to page 2 biggrin

No.

Many VH platform (which generate the vast majority of forums topics) issues/questions/concerns are common to all models.

I really think that this attempt at segregation is a bit sad ! If you own an ASTON MARTIN that is it. The fact that it may be a few years older or lacking in a few cylinders is irrelevant. God forbid this is based on cost. How unfortunate it would be to turn up at a bit of a do to be informed that your new V8 was not elligble to enter because it lacked the Kudos of 6 litre but actually cost significantly more.!!!!!!

Maybe its all a bit of a wind up!

6 weeks in and I love my V8V more and more. We are heading to Dorset at the weekend , Anniversary and all that.

Regards

Rob

I agree best leave as it is. Too much commonality to split. You can see the problems on the AMOC forum.

Like reading about other Astons (toying with getting a Vanquish as the next move), so like it as it is. What would be useful would be to have a FAQ as a sticky - top of all the posts for newbies.
Except for cygnets - they have to go in the Toyota section. wink

I agree
I used to moderator on s2ki.com
We split several sections up and ended up reintegrating them, too many smaller forums just kills the flow (take a look at AMOC)
A sticky FAQ is a good idea.

Leave it as it is. Even though I only drive a lowly, reliable, trouble free, "jag in drag" I love reading about all your problems with droopy windows, emission warning lights, faulty fuel caps etc.

Despite being a modern Aston owner my inspiration came from Astons history. I feel in love with the marque as a young boy and was determined to own what I felt was the best AM of the day at some stage in my life. AM still manufacture in relatively low volumes and has retained a similar cache throughout. The number of posts on here is consistent with the low volumes and, whilst you would expect the modern car owner to dominate the modern world of the internet, we still thankfully get an insight in to many of the cars that led to where we are today. If anything it would be good to see more of the earlier cars. I vote for not splitting the forum. Sorry Di, we will have to argue over tea and biscuits at the AM works day (when hopefully we can also see some special cars from the past)
