MY 07 Vantage - Tracker and other Qs
Discussion
With regards to the tracker, you should have a couple of black 'cards' with a little Aston Martin badge on them. They may be sitting in the door pockets. The tracker activates if the car is used without one of these within about 3 metres.
You will need to register with Tracker. Tel 01752697107.
Cost is about £250 per year.

Two different tracking systems have been supplied on V8 Vantage models, depending upon the year.
The early cars had Tracker, although it was (initially at least) an optional item. It was a regular tracker system which deactivated with the key and had no special cards to deactivate it. It was, effectively, an after market kit added to cars just like any other Tracker installation.
Later cars (approx 2008 I believe) replaced this with a new system, fitted as standard, called Aston Martin Tracking and administered by Euro Central. The system came with two bluetooth cards (black, credit card size but thicker) as well as the ability to pair with your bluetooth phone instead. The cards are notoriously unreliable but pairing with a phone works brilliantly!
This system required one of the cards (or paired phone) to be in the car when driving it, although it did allow some manoeuvring before contacting the control centre. The system has a red light on the dash to indicate the system is active, which goes out once the car is started, unless the paired carsd/phone is not present.
The key thing to note is that the two systems are completely different, supplied and administered by two different companies.

Mine doesn't have bluetooth or any keycards. If you can believe this.. (scroll down to security) http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/equipment/Detail.asp...
.... then they only did Tracker Horizon from Aug 06 to Jan 07
My previous V8V (a rather nice Toro Red one ) had Tracker - it was picked up on 1st June 2006 and was spec'd several months earlier ........ then they only did Tracker Horizon from Aug 06 to Jan 07
I believe they know automatically if the car is stolen without the key, but you have to tell them if you get knocked on the head and the car is stolen with the keys. Don't know if this is typical, but My insurance s invalidated if the car is stolen with the keys in it - I leave them in while filling up, for example.

Just a few problems(!) - the first seems to be a not uncommom problem, the doors not locking with the keyfob, window not dropping on door open and power fold mirrors not folding! I've read all the threads but my question is if the door locks are at fault and need to be replaced, is that covered under the Extended premium warranty?
Also the leather at the front edge of the instrument binnacle is peeling back, would that be covered under warranty?
Finally, am I right in thinking that all V8Vs from Aug 2006 on had a Tracker installed as standard. It says so in the handbook but just wanted to check. I assume a call to tracker or Aston would be needed to reactivate it? Any idea on the cost of that?
These problems pale into insignifcance after I remove fuse 22

Dead battery was causing window and mirror issues. Door lock cable was tightened so that works now.
Also have found and activated the tracker. It is a Eurowatch tracker and would have had tags but they're long gone. It can be paired via bluetooth to my phone. Which is a bit inconvenient when it goes into the garage (I know I can pair it with 3 more phones).
It is having an oil leak fixed under warranty, and I've found a few rust bubble around both door handles. Has anyone had similar? Will the Anti-corrosion warranty pay out on this?
Also anyone know how much replacement tracker tags are?

R.E. the bubbling paint, take some pictures and tell/show your dealer. They will contact Aston with a quote to fixAlso have found and activated the tracker. and wait for a decision. It seems most people that have done this have had the response from Aston that they will pay
a percentage with yourself picking up the remainder.

The rub being that a percentage of what they charge will still probably be more than if I get it all done myself by a decent bodyshop.a percentage with yourself picking up the remainder.

When I called around to get a quote for fittong front brake pads, my nearest dealer were the most expensive by some considerable margin So I'm guessing bodywork won't be any different.
It seems a bit off that a '10 year anti-corrosion warranty' actually means if you get any rust within 10 years we'll consider reapiring it and get you to pay half!!
