Mirror "dipping" when in reverse

1. I though Aston V8V has this feature, if so can it be set by the owner or does the dealer need to activate?

If you have powerfold mirrors you should find an option in the onboard computer to dip on reverse.

Early V8V's don't have the feature.

Any idea what model year this feature came in. I have a MY07 and have not noticed this option

I haven't noticed the feature either and have set memory seat 3 to simply dip both mirrors as that seems to be the easiest way. I would love to have auto dip though. My V8V is an MY09 and I cant find the option!

My V8V was MY09 and that definately had the option. I think you press menu, car settings, mirror settings and its in there.

It's the wing mirrors which dip, i.e. point slightly groundwards to help you see the white lines of the parking bay you're reversing into, or the kerb or whatever.

Thank you for that, seems a good idea, probably a good idea as well when you have someone up your chuff with a bolexed headlamp? can you activate when moving forward?

To be honest, that doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Just to be clear, an 'auto dimming' rear view mirrow means that you can still see things behind, albeit dimmed so you're not dazzled by their lights. Whereas the dipping side mirrors referred to on this thread actually alter the aim of the mirror to point at the floor. So whilst this would avoid you being dazzled it would also completely prevent you seeing anything behind you with that mirror. That doesn't seem safe to me as there's a big difference between 'seeing it dimmed' and 'not seeing anything at all'.

You could be right of couse, but its very annoying with a searchlight bouncing off your offside mirror into your eyeballs. Point taken though. My Volvo has the auto rear dimmer at night, guess most new cars do.
