What does it achieve? dipping when you reverse?
It's the wing mirrors which dip, i.e. point slightly groundwards to help you see the white lines of the parking bay you're reversing into, or the kerb or whatever.Vipers said:
probably a good idea as well when you have someone up your chuff with a bolexed headlamp?
To be honest, that doesn't sound like a good idea to me.Just to be clear, an 'auto dimming' rear view mirrow means that you can still see things behind, albeit dimmed so you're not dazzled by their lights. Whereas the dipping side mirrors referred to on this thread actually alter the aim of the mirror to point at the floor. So whilst this would avoid you being dazzled it would also completely prevent you seeing anything behind you with that mirror. That doesn't seem safe to me as there's a big difference between 'seeing it dimmed' and 'not seeing anything at all'.
