I am just a little taken aback. My highly specced new V8V is barely a month old and AM announce a new model. Surely I should have been informed. I am ex motor trade, if I had a customer in the same position and wished to retain their future custom I would have informed them. Does anyone out there share my dismay or do I just take it on the financial chin.

Rob

What was the time gap between ordering your car and picking it up? The dealer may not have known a "New" model was just around the corner?

Quick point, go grab your ECU, go to the car, fire it up, start off and you'll quickly be a bit more pleased!

It has to be said though that this year is the Vantage S, last year was the N420 Roadster, previous N420 Coupe, previous 4.7, previous N400, they do do a new version every year so arguably it's always going to happen. Also a point of view is that the dealership may not have known back when you ordered your car.

Sort of feel the same, even though as I have said before it's not my personal car. The new V8 S address' every problem my family has about our V8 Vantage, which we got the last week of December. Shmee which salesman told you about the S?

I'm afraid I don't know his name, it was Grange Welwyn but just popped over while I was nosing at the N420 while mine was having a bit that fell off the dash replaced.

Assumed so, Jonathan is the younger guy, can't remember the manager's name.

Greater transparency might be ideal but you still have a fantastic, gloriously beautiful car.

Like you I had no idea of the impending S version when I placed my order in early December although I doubt I would have opted for the S version as it doesn't deliver any tangible performance increases over the standard V8.

You have no choice but to take it on the chin. I can understand and share your dismay, but am surprised that as ‘ex motor trade’ you (or indeed anybody) would expect anything different.

Q Please can I buy a new motor car for 10, 50, 100, £150,000?
A No Sir, don’t do it, there will be a new model along shortly – highly unlikely!!

I wouldn't be bothered. You saved some money (which will pay for your fuel for as long as you own the car - in order to put it into perspective) and the "improvements"on the S are negligible. It's a bit like buying a PC - you know that next months there will be a new model.

Enjoy.

Just been into my dealer and they only found out themselves a few hours before it hit the press. I dont think you can level the blame at dealers on this one - however its pretty much the norm anyway for manufacturers to do this, you have just been unlucky really.

I think that Bez's strategy is the Porsche one. Regular updates, myriad versions, new iterations to keep the same basic vehicle fresh. Another reason to go into the dealer and upgrade.

I just wish they'd produce fewer cars and help the residuals. Then we could all trade up more easily.

Okay I give up and have acquired some lateral thinking. I hope anyone else feeling a bit miffed will agree.

V8VS is £13500 more expensive. New price of V8V is up £3500. Mine was Invoiced in Dec 2010 saving £2670 V.A.T. We are now getting close to £20000.

There will be a ECU chip upgrade which will offset the 10BHP increase.

Also the V8VS looks very much like the V12 which may make people think Oh! So its the small engined one!

So please accept my oppology for whining. I am a lucky swine who loves his new Aston Martin

I wouldn't call the S a new model. Let it be said, it's a pimped V8V to make some extra money for AM. Not more than that. And the Non-S looks better than the S.
