  • Both* reversing lights on my 2006 AM V8V are out.
Note that:

a. The “R” indicator in the instrument cluster *does* illuminate when I put the car into reverse.
b. The rear parking sensor is also not working.

Could there be a common cause (like a switch/connection or something) that could be at fault, rather than both LEDs being out (which would be really bad luck given that these things are supposed to last 000’s of hours)?

Is there a possible relationship/cause between the parking sensor and the reversing lights being out?

Or am I looking at 2 whole new rear lamp clusters at many $$$?

Tia.

fuse 79 in the cabin fuse box should be checked first, as this powers both the reversing lamps and the parking aid module, fuse box is under the carpet in the passenger foot well, a metal panel will require removal, if his is ok it may be the reverse switch on the transaxle, but I can't honestly remember the last time I changed a switch,

Thanks Rick, I will check out the fuse. I presume that would be the driver's side foot well on a US spec (1hd) car?

Yep, fuse 79 was blown (wonder why?). Anyway, it's working for now. They sure don't make it easy to access that fuse box do they! Thanks for the help.
