I've had a 996 Turbo for a year and love the power , grip and build quality but still hanker after a Vanquish .Just sold my Audi RS2 so thinking of this option again .
One slight concern is the rear seat room - both daughters (9 and 5 ) are ok in the Turbo - what are the rear seats in the Vanquish like ?

Which upgrades ( eg gearbox module ?) are essential ?
What are the key items to look out for in terms of wear and tear or expense ?

Anyone done a similar move and like to comment ?

Thanks

Rear leg room is poor/non existent.

'Upgrades' are to get the gear selector sensors changed to the magnetic type if has the old mechanical wire ones. Best option for the V12 was the SDP (nicest wheels, S brakes).

Things to watch for are clutch (25k miles, V12 clutch is no longer available), gear selector sensors as discussed above, spigot bearing were a problem, corrosion of both front and rear subframes (this requires removing the undertray to inspect), seized wheel nuts (this often requires drilling them out and that can damage the hub), bubbling corrosion at the corners and edges of all wings and bonnet. Remember too that the chassis is bonded and (can't practically) be repaired, so any knocks and creaks on a test drive is a warning. As explained to me, the Vanquish is a 21st century car using 20th century components.

Inspect carefully before you buy, even better get an expert, like Rikki Cann for example, to inspect it for you.
