Amber warning light - DB9
Discussion
Wonder if anyone can help? A message recently came up which said I need an 'emission service'. OK, no problem I thought and every time I start the engine I clear the message. I am assuming this is something which is not urgent and can be taken care of at the next overall service of the car. However, at the same time as this message first appeared the amber warning light came on relating to the engine management system. The handbook advises that if this is on constantly I should immediately contact my dealer. Does any body know if this is likely to be connected to the emission service message or could it be something else?
wouldnt worry about it...the emissions system on these seems to be like a hair trigger, with a change of driving style enough to upset it
get a £30 OBD II reader off fleabay, read the code, write it down, clear it and forget about it
might never come back
if you get it come on a few times repeatedly with same code e.g. front O2 sensor or such like, maybe need a new sensor or connection checking
thats my non expert opinion on it
..or take it to a dealer and pay £150 for them to read the code for you

Is it normal for the amber warning light to come on at the same time? Is that related?
yes it is, in many cases the lamp and warning will reset itself, it will take a few runs with the engine going through its full warm up cycle, if the lamp and warning stays on a code read will be required, as long as the car is performing as normal and no other signs of a fault such as higher fuel consumption hesitation etc, I would not be concerned,It's a pain in the ares, but it goes off all the time. If I've been town driving for a couple of weeks and then go out and let rip, I get the red light and the "drive slowly" message. It goes off after a minute or two to be replaced by the amber light, whcih also clears after a while.
One dealer told me I had a misfire and needed replacement coils. I laughed.
The OBDII shows no error.
