I needed some new front discs and pads (DB9), the stealer had quoted me £780, i rand a couple of indi's and they were around £740. I decided to give kwik fit a shot. They had to get back to me on price, but they did this within half and hour. The price they quoted was £650, great i thought. I was then told i would also get free front pads for as long as i owned the car. I booked it in today, and they sent someone to my stealers to collect the brakes. If you are need of brakes give kwik fit a try, i am pleased by their service

The free front pads is a "lock in" to keep you coming back and hoefully buy other stuff.
Is the £120 saving worth the risk of letting an inexperienced (on Astons) technician mess with your brakes and raod test it after wink

IMHO go to the dealer or a local (experienced) Indie like DMS or TDi

I agree with Mikey K.......not worth it for £120 and if you put a little pressure on the dealer I'm sure you could narrow that gap

So the local dealer is supplying are local kwick fit, at a discount , thats why kwick fit can under cut , but are losing out on the labour.they must be mad.

Free brake pads , i very much dout they are pads that Aston would recommend.
More like recommend by spongebob square pants.

They tell you that the disks have to be changed too. On most cars pads cost next to nothing, but changing the disks makes it a very profitable job for KF.

I am also of the view that I wouldn't use the likes of kwik fit to touch my car, I know when i was qouted by dms it included some wires and other bits to stop squealing, as the wires were ok they were taken off the invoice reducing the cost, saving money is always nice but for me peace of mind knowing they have been fitted and bedded in properly is more important, after all it's my pride and joy,

They use Bosch parts for the "free for life" part of the deal.

BTW the pads on the Aston are not normal
IIRC Rick posted the are Pagid RS compounds so not cheap.
I'll bet Kwik Fit wont fit the genuine pads for that money wink

The pads were supplied by the Aston dealership, along with the discs, and are genuine. I saw the invoice from aston to kwik fit, pads were around £245. I probably will not have the car long enough to require another new set, just thought it might help some, the free pads for life i thought was a good offer.

+1 from a Kwik Fit victim who was refunded by the area manager after he independently investigated my complaint & admitted the branch monkey's general incompetence & branch manager's sleazyness.

A week later he sent another cheque out to refund more when a proper mechanic was re-doing the same work and found they had twisted the brake pipe when re-fitting the Calliper and left a kink in it.

I was away at sea and my wife was using my Volvo daily driver, she took it to KwiFi and got the same deal, but in this case they did use inferior quality discs and pads, so bad infact that every time I drive the car wet the discs rust up immediately and stick on when I drive it again.
God only knows what sort of pig Iron they are made from but I have just got a new set of genuine Volvo bits to go on. ASAP!
