Hi people

ive just joined, recently just bought an Aston Martin V8 Vanatge, so i thought id join where people understand beauty and class haha.

just wanted your expert guidance, i had the check done recently before i bought the car a full aston martin check, the results where positive and there have been no faults and everything mechanically is on point, however ive taking the car to aston martin due to a grinding noise the clutch has been making it had a change 2 years ago and only done 15000 miles since, they are saying they will not change it and if they take a look at it they will charge £1,800. They also claim they cant find me on the warrenty list..

any insight on what i should do would be very much appreciated. (sorry for the long winded post)

your post is not very clear......if you purchased the car with a warranty then you will have a warranty booklet which you can show the dealer.....if you have done 15000 miles since your last clutch change then, depending on your driving style, you may have burnt out the clutch.....the clutch is not normally covered by warranty unless there has been some type of oil leak onto it.......what do you expect ??

the guy who i had bought the car had warrenty on the car, i had to fill out a warrenty transfer form which i did, but they are claiming they havent recieved it.

and in terms of the clutch surely having done the check they would have spotted the clutch was on its way out.. i dont drive the car rough so i wouldnt think it would be down to my driving

You don't have to drive it like you stole it to ruin the clutch, simply holding/riding it will wear it out.

If you sent of the transfer forms then you will still have the warranty booklet which you can show to the dealer......did you not think it strange that you didn't get anything back from AM ??

Clutches are not coverd by warranty.......just like brake pads and tyres.....they are consumables

If they won't budge on the cost of checking it out take it to Rick and get him to replace the lot.
It will only cost a couple of hundred more.

thought it may have been strange, however thought that they may not need to send a response thought they would just update it via administration..

wouldnt think a clutch would go out so soon it just had it done for £7000

IS the warranty Aston Martin extended, if you would like to PM me your reg i can ring them to see if it has cover.
As Michael said, a clutch is a wear and tear item unless it can be proved other wise.
SO it is common practice to get prior authorisation to remove clutch for inspection.

with regards to the lenght of time since it was replace , we have changed clutches here with only 3,000 miles on the clock.

clutch dosent cost £7K either? thats bull or a ripoff

should be 1/2 that...even at a dealer

but as others have stated, its a consumable part as it wears, like brakes, tyres etc

unless there was something wrong with it, but claiming within a few K miles they may honour it...15K miles later its doubtful as it could just be heavy wear

touch wood, mine is on original clutch at near 60K miles...so thats how long it *could* last if you look after it...

I have a Toro Red V8V, which I think goes much better with the standard red light clusters. I can see why you'd swap out for the clear lights on a black or grey car, but not so much on a red one.

I would invest in a new clutch and a spellcheck rather than clear rear lights smile

Funny how preferences differ. While I think they look fine, I wouldn't bother with clear rear lights except on a red car, since with red paint it's hard to see the design of red rear lights. I think red rear lights look great on black and silver cars.
