Having shown my brother the V8V I heard his comment was ....."don't think I'd have a motor like that and leave it so dirty"

Now it's not that dirty used on winter roads in the rain for a few hundred miles and with two small children finding the time to get it clean and keep it clean all the time is not feasible. I'm a believer of don't have it unless you use it!

My question.....is there anyone on here who rarely cleans their car??? I recall a TVR user who was always teased because he didn't even wash it once in a while......

Anyone only get their car washed when it goes for a service??? Come on be honest......

Yeah I am regular cleaner but just not every time it gets a spot of dirt on it......there is bound to be some folks out there who don't even bother though! :-)

mine is mucky, daily driver mostly

sometimes, in winter, its worse to clean it than just leave it mucky

clean it weekly without perfect technique and you just put swirls in the paint anyway

depends on what you like to do with your spare time I guess....I know people who relish 2 days at a weekend "detailing" their car

personally, Ive got other things I like to do more, so a couple of hours for a wash n clean every 3 or 4 weeks will more than suffice smile

Mine gets a non-contact wash on average every 2 weeks, i.e. pressure washer (low power K2 Karcher) and a snow foam (if you don't know what this is Google it) which clears off most of the road grime/salt etc.

It takes 10 minutes max, with 5 mins of that for the snow foam to do its work, and involves virtually no effort.

It gets a proper clean every 2 - 3 months with the two bucket method. This does take time and effort.

Yer I am in the same boat really. Two kids lack of time...although they are getting used to helping now. As mine is a toy really (I use the train during the week and a beemer for family duties) I do like to keep it very clean, (infact she was Zymoled at the weekend) but when she is clean I tend to think "I wont use the Aston as I don't want to get her dirty". So she has been a little more dirty this winter as if she is then I think "well may as well use the Aston she is already dirty"

Yer Googled it, looks really good, either as a pre-wash clean or as a quick once over. How good a job does it do on the road grime and salt that is what is really needing to be removed this time of year?

Snow foam removes the particles from the paintwork (the stuff that causes the swirls) but it will not remove the salt/grime that has to be done by hand.

A full rinse, snow foam, rinse, 2 bucket method wash, rinse and dry takes about 1hour.

Clean astons always look better of course, but I understand that time can be an issue. A well waxed car will take no time at all to wash.

I would get a detailer type (like myself) to come over in the spring and spend a day or two on it and. Then wash it every few weeks.

I'm with you Dave, but then I'm a retired old f*rt with too much time on his hands. With time not being a factor I actually find cleaning the car very therapeutic and satisfying.

I reckon the snow foam and pressure washer removes most if not all of the salt (it's difficult to measure exactly but I don't see any white salt patches on the bodywork when dried) and a fair amount of the road grime (depends how dirty it is to start with).

If you decide to go for this, get snow foam solution that is wax friendly as some of them will remove any wax you've had applied. And go for a good quality foaming lance (not the Karcher ones that they sell in Halfords) so that the solution foams up as much as possible and absorbs the dirt from the bodywork.

As mentioned, it's not as good as a proper hand wash done correctly, but if you are pushed for time it keeps it looking clean.

I had my new Vantage detailed last week which is something I intend having done every 3 months and I'll do my best keeping up to speed.

The detailer i used suggested applying a degreaser before the snow foam which helps dislodge the grime. Until the Aston arrived you wouldn't catch me cleaning my cars but I'm actually looking forward to getting down and gently wash, dry and wax her curves. Sad I know.

A clean Aston always looks stunning but a dirty Vantage seems to give that post sex glow. Like i said, sad. rotate

That's my normal technique but with the temperatures I only just cleaned off the muck from a Snowdonia Hoon in October frown

I'm lucky to work from home so as soon as it's dry I go out and clean it, plus it's faster when clean wink

Ultimate Snow Foam won the AutoExpress award for best snow foam. 5 litres of that and a proper foam lance were my Christmas present to myself. Still haven't tried it yet, as the pipe leading to the tap in the garage burst in all the frost ...
