I am the market for a 09 Vantage Coupe. I have found one with every option and it is BMW Carbon Black and Bentley Saddle Interior. The dealer is 5 hour drive and I have not seen the colors before other than the photos provided. The Bentley Saddle appears to be somewhat darker than Sahara Sand which it my favorite color. The Carbon Black appears to be a very dark blue metallic, but I am not sure how it will look in person. My first choice would be tungsten/Sahara tan, my 2nd would be Black/Sahara or Sandstorm. Any opinions or experience with Carbon Black?

Carbon black is a fantastic colour, one of BMW's best.

Vixpy1, How do you think a vantage would look in the color?

Just as a cautionary note, BMW's Carbon Black suffers horrendously with paint swirls. A great black with a hint of blue in certain lighting conditions but if swirls bother you you may want to reconsider. A good friend of mine has spent a fortune trying to get them corrected but they keep reappearing despite his best efforts to keep them at bay.

Steve, Do you think swirls are more of any issue than standard black. I have found swirls my Basalt Black on my Porsche difficult but with work, manageable

Hi Jack, your best bet would be to get this clarified with a pro detailer who will work on a variety of black cars of various makes. My friends car is an M5 and he is a perfectionist but seeing the swirls, even after they have been worked on, with my own eyes led me to respond to your post. A detailer may suggest otherwise although I can say that it's definitely worse, by some margin, to the swirls I experience on my Obsidian Black ML.

I had a carbon black Z4M Coupe prior to the V8V. A great colour, that gives a hint of blue in strong sunlight, I had a full day detail done once a year and never had a problem with swirls. So long as you don't wash it with a bucket of grit you'll be fine.

Is it just the photo, or is the dash a different colour from the rest of the leather?

I does look different in the photo, but I think it is the light. I has some other photos of the interior and the color looks uniform.

I've seen a V8V in Carbon Black, and I thought it looked great. It's definitely blue, but very dark and a really nice color. I've also seen Bentley Saddle, and I think it's a somewhat darker -- and richer -- color than Sahara. Is it on Long Island?

No, but that's my local dealer. I bought my V8V there, and they've been a real pleasure to deal with.

+1

I had an E46 M3 in Carbon Black and swirls are not an issue - it is not gloss black - which is a serious problem - or metallic black. In bright sunshine it is a beautiful colour with a hint of blue grey. You will be fine. That is one of the prettiest Vantages I have seen. Bentley Saddle is better than any Aston interior colour even though some of them are nice.

I would have that colour way ahead of any Tungsten or the other colours you mentioned. Somebody paid a fortune for that - your good luck.

So sorry. I know you're feeling down now, but you'll find "your" car and you'll be on top of the world.

Dont worry - as said above - Carbon black is an absolute nightmare... Swirls show up so badly you become scared to wash it... the right one will trun up.

So you say, but I had an M3 in Carbon Black, and I have had several Jags in Midnight, which is a very similar colour - very dark metallic blue grey, and no such problems at all.
