Sardinian Roads

I'd echo that for the south. I went there a couple of years back a for a couple of weeks and drove around - fine on the main roads but can be a little hit and miss on the minor (potholes, rough surfacing etc). Some great views though...On a par with Crete but infinately better than Malta if that helps!
BTW, I think we've met, in your official capacity, but I'm struggling to remember which circuit it was. Brands, I think.

We're there again 7th July on the Grand Prix circuit, maybe we can do a few laps together!? Hope you enjoy Sardinia........ Oh, Sicily is ok too, especially if you're into the old temple ruins.......

Hi. Been to Corsica many times.
The east coast area has mainly long, straight, rather uninteresting roads but you can get on and overtake. The west coast roads are fiendishly windy (as in twisty) and in season it's easy to get stuck behind someone going very slowly. Going from A to B on the west side can take a long time even if there's no traffic. Sounds great but many roads have been cut into the sides of mountains and there are many sharp, blind corners.
There are some fantastic roads going south out of Corte (in the centre of the island) and that's where I'd recommend looking if you take the car. Bendy and quiet. I'd love to go on a bike one day.
Main road surfaces are as good as mainland France and frankly even the minor ones are better than most UK highways so nothing to worry you there.
Prettiest town in my view is Calvi, top left of the island, but it's a lovely place overall and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Hope this helps.
Simon.

We stayed in Porto Rafael a few years back (Costa Smeralda i think is the area) roads seemed fine, twisty and narrow in parts but surface was ok.
Little story - There is a island just out from Porto rafael called La Madelena. Every night for a week i could sit on the patio outside villa looking at La Madalena and hear (and occasionally see) a car (must have been F or L) roaring round. Awesome sounds hearing the engine across the water. So i'm sure the roads are fine there too.
