Got a nasty stone chip on the screen today right in my line of vision.

I have had wind screens repaired in the past on other cars and the results are OK but not perfect.

Im thinking of replacing the screen. Do I just call AutoGlass or is this something an AM dealer should be undertaking. If I take it to a AM dealer will they just sub the job out anyway ? Does any one have any experience of having a screen replaced?

Thanks in advance

I've just had my V8V windscreen replaced by National Windscreens. The excess was £70 on my insurance and it took 3 hours to do under my supervision. All seemed satisfactory and is now fixed, however I am aware that the screen and labour costs would take you over £1000 should you chose to get it done by AM themselves.

They did make sure the guy doing it wasn't completely new to doing a car like this, so I had to take it to the depot but that's all ok.

same here - insurance arranged local Autoglass to do it

the screen is official AM part and very expensive, took a few days to come into stock

otherwise, perfect, couldnt tell

dont worry about it - just inspect thoroughly when you pick up

My wife got three chips in mine on the test drive (so she had to agree to buy it smile )
The dealer did them FOC and used Autoglass to do the resin injection.
I struggle to find them now!
That ought to be free under your insurance.
When mine gets really bad with the fine chips from gravel I'll get it replaced.

I had my (heated) windscreen replaced by Autoglass. I took it to the depot and the manager, the most exerienced fitter, insisted on doing it himself. A very neat and clean job.

Although dealers know about Astons I would guess that they do very few windscreen changes and probably outsource this work anyway.

Your insurer may have a nominated or preferred repairer. But don't let this restrict you from choosing a recommended/trusted specialist (either word-of-mouth or who your local AM dealer uses).

Depending on whee you are, I can recommend an independent specialist near you.
