Front offside brake was making an awful noise today after the car has been stood for a week or so. I presumed it was the usual Aston squeal, but it was getting progressively worse and attracting much more attention than normal. I bought some copaslip thinking that would fix it and headed home.

Once in the garage with trolley jack in hand I was stumped, just plastic covers and edges of plastic sills. After plenty of head scratching I spotted a small aluminium plate about a foot behind the front wheel arch. I very cautiously used this point to lift the car. No strange noises or damage caused, but the question remains, where should you jack these cars?

Once the wheel was off, I spotted the culprit, a small stone had become lodged between the disc and the tin shield. Once removed, problem solved. Whilst I was there I applied a little copaslip to the rear of the pads, seems to be even better than is was before.

Whilst on the subject, how do you remove the two pins which hold the pads in place. The spring clip came off easy enough but I couldn't see any obvious way of removing the pins?

Bump,

Has nobody ever taken a wheel off one of these. Come on PH, where should the trolley jack sit?

I'll have another look tonight, but it didn't last time I looked.

Thanks all, after a closer look in the book it is on page 10.3. Thankfully I lifted it where I should have. Strangely small lifting point though.
