Clinkard seem to be competitive with their pricing. I went to test drive a V8V there before buying my one from Stratstone. The reasons I selected Stratstone was that I preferred the sales person at Stratstone and the car was only £2K more for a car that had all the things I wanted it to have and in the colour combination I wanted so the deal at Stratstone was the one for me. I also thought the support of a main dealer for my first step into the Aston world was the reassurance I needed too as I don't know anything about Clinkard. They do have a selection of different cars though Ferrari, Bently etc etc

whats really scary is that he will have 10k in that car.....so they bought it in sub 80k ........not just Rapide's with a problem holding on to their value

You always did get raped when trading in any Aston. I remember selling my V8V 9 months ago (it will be only a year old now) and rember is was not so much a haircut as a scalp!

As per the V12V, I think these are extraordinary bargins right now. Those big V12's are hungry beasts and perhaps not the most affordable vehicles right now.

I suspect that Clinards are competative in their pricing. However, like many non-official Dealer Dealers, you pays your money and take's yer chances. That car has had 10K mile life to date - which should be nothing in the scheme of things. Also as a 12-18month old vehicle, it should have had a least 2 good AM services and a really good shake down. My main concern would be to know how it did the miles and the condition of the paintwork from the miles. All things equal however, why should it be considered anything different to the main parts of the V8V but with a tried and tested rock-solid V12 engine?

to be fair to AM I think you get "raped" or perhaps "sha**ed" if you buy any expensive car SL's, Bentley, big Audi's, they all hit your bank account if you buy new.....ML63 AMG are loosing 40% in first 12 months

Moral of the story .......buy previously owned smile

Four factors IMHO

None AM dealer so needs to be "competitive"
Time of year - high value stuff always drops off over winter
Classified as "high mileage" doing anything more then ~3k miles year
May well be a "press" car wink

As others have said "risk vs reward"

if i'm really honest i don't think i would buy brand new again.my previous db7 was second hand and i got a really good vibe from the guy i bought it from privately.i just knew he cared for the car.the service schedule was impeccable and the car was mint.however, for me to change my car now i would not be comfortable unless i bought from the previous owner direct with warranties or bought from a main dealer i trust like stratstones.a 2 year old db9 now,for instance, represents a lot of value for money versus a brand new one.

I am currently eying up used V12V's or DBS's or even just a V8V 4.7... Just looking for something with some depreciation priced in, and felt a £90k V12V must surely be a good buy as long as condition, servicing and warranty are all right!

Totally agree
8 months ago I paid £70k for a 4.7 roadster with "the right" options and colours from a main dealer. Still not see anything similar for less and for an 18 month old car it was ~£30k less than new.

I'd say a 18-24 month old car this time of year is going to be great value which ever model in the range wink

You may not 'see' them, but all these 4.7 V8VR priced at 70k in the ads can easily be had for 65k. I know, I am in the market for one... wink

Has anyone considered that this "cheap" V12V is a customer's car on SOR??

This car has been in their 'stock' a while so the customer may have dropped his price to realise some cash?

You may well find some of the other exotica is SOR stuff too.

I got my V8V from a non AM dealer smaller dealer than Clinkard, risky?, not at all, I just put it in for the warranty work, job done. Not sure what the fright is about buying from a non AM dealer, after all, main dealers would buy this car if they could, had it in the past where dealer traders called me to sell into their stock. I got mine at around £7k less than dealer prices and this one also reflects this. If this one is right for you, go put your deposit down........and good luck.

There's only a couple that are similar colour & spec.
Yes you will easily get £6k if you haggle - I did.
Plus I got a 17 point list of "snags" done at their cost
(not sure a none AM dealer would have done or been able to do them all)

Either way, as I said, now is a good time to buy an model that has ~1 year of warranty left. Haggle hard for a bargain wink

Looks good value, not a big spec and these cars are (stupidly) mileage sensitive, but well worth a closer look IMO.

With snow on the ground and Xmas in the air it's the best time to drive a hard bargain, even if those silly Corsa tyres mean you won't use it much any time soon!

Bargain hard and you can earn yourself a set of Pirelli Sotto Zero winter tyres that are superb in the snow and ice.

I just bought a v12v and I'm happy with the deal considering the tiny mileage. So yes it is a good time to buy but 88k asking is very cheap. You can pay very close to that for an equivalent 4.7 roadster. As for astons being mileage sensitive it's crazy. The v12 is very unstressed (85bhp/litre) with a rev limit of 7k versus say a lambo which revs over 8k. Moreover they were built with longevity in mind. Astons aren't temperamental Italian exotica they're proper gt cars and should be treated as such. Between us on ph we can start to change this perception. Over in the tvr forums 'garage queens' are frowned upon, so it can happen. (says the guy who has a Tuscan with less than 3500 miles on it! But hey I live abroad at the moment!)

Naturally I'm hoping prices will firm up well next year! I'm going to see it tomorrow but won't drive it home until weather improves. Could be a long wait!

i've actually evened out at exactly that.36000 miles done in 3 1/2 years.probably a bit heavier than 10k average at the start and a bit less than 10k average over the last 12-18 months.only on my second set of boots with most of the life left on them and still on my first clutch with plenty of life left to go yet.if i got a front end respray to get rid of the stone chips you would struggle to separate it from a new car.why am i thinking of changing cars again??
