I've been doing my best, but it's full of them. There's even one claiming the DB9 is a rebadged Jag.

Yes, even though the Jag came out several years later.

Hey, does anyone on here that owns an Aston really care about these dragged up arguements? As soon as my OH got his XK, the first words were 'its a wannabee Aston Martin'

I get so sick of hearing the.. its faster, more reliable, a Jag in drag comments.

I dont give a toss. The Aston was and is my lifes dream car and I've achieved it.

I have no interest in Italian exotica but appreciate those that do. Thats their thing. I know that vehicle wise, nothing comes close to actually owning one of these relatively rare and very special cars.

I say we are among the very lucky few and ignore the detractors.

Hit the nail on the head.

For car lovers buying a car is an emotional decision not just about figures and bang for buck but a feeling that you can't
truly explain.

everyone will always justify their own decision making process, or why they couldnt afford their dream and had to make do with something else for a while

same with anything really wink

the Ford Mondeo is fantastic, VFM, exceptionally reliable, daily transport ...so why on earth do all these companies make different, more expensive cars?

we will all be driving golf buggies in 20 years, so lets enjoy whilst we can smile

There was / is seriously no other car that has what my V12V has to offer. As simple as that. All that bcensoredks regarding the upstart pretenders; I never gave any of them a first thought, let alone a second.

I‘m a bit worried about Ford. They have a great heritage and tradition but to my mind seem to be off course. The Mondeo is a great car but essentially 17 years old. In performance terms a Skoda Octavia does all it can do (and more) for less price. The Focus was originally touted as a £12k Golf slayer yet they come in at over £20k and seem to fall short in some areas. The Fusion is in a bit of a no mans land, the Roomster doesn't have the lines but looks very purposeful and again sees it off in performance terms at a much lower price. Now they are launching the Figo, which was going to be for sale only to India but now (needs must) is available to all developing countries daft enough to shell out.

I would much rather see an entry level Cabriolet to compete with the Eos at around £18k, a proper sports saloon up against the M3 and RS4 (plus the new E63 AMG) and maybe an SUV which could slay the Touareg and Q7.

I really feel the company will struggle as the economy improves if it can't get an even bigger line up and broaden its appeal further. Any one else think this is nonsense?

wink

I think you've responded very well to what is to my mind an obvious truth - unless any organistion fails to continue to design and deliver products or services which people will buy (for whatever their reason) then they'll go out of business. I'm not sure what the point of the original post was although I have come across many other posts on other forums where expensive cars of one type or another are knocked by people for their own reasons. I presume many such people are not in a position to buy such cars (not saying this about the original poster mind) so they seek validation with others of the same mind. Misery attracts misery doesn't it!

No one buys an Aston / Ferrari / etc with their head, its all about emotion. Very few cars have ever come close to the emotional 'feel' of driving an Aston. You either get them or you don't. For lots of people they are either to understated vs a Ferrari, too slow smile vs a Porsche.
The only thing I have ever found that comes close to the emotional feel of an Aston - and its nothing like a Aston is a Ford GT (50).
Which I may be blagging (again) a drive of tomorrow! whistle
But not nearly as useable as an Aston every day, Especially on English roads.

We all get hacked off from time to time. The emotion that draws us to buy an Aston overspills when the darn things go wrong. I am going to spend some time sampling the Italian F word and will return to Aston because I just love them. Probaby though to a year old car after someone else has pit the niggles right. please forgive the italian sojourn and let me out of junctions if I promise to keep the faith
