I have the cruise control on the right hand side of my wheel but not the audio system controls to the left. Am I right to presume an easy retro fix? Anyone have any experience with this? Part costs? Estimate on labour?

Presume rick at DMS is the man here too?

Any advice appreciated, cheers

I don't think you can put the audio controls on the steering wheel? On the left side of mine I have the phone buttons.

This is exactly the opposite to what I am trying to do on mine!

And unfortunately it means a new steering wheel for £442.61 from AM and a few hours to fit it and flash the car to use it. Check my thread for a bit more.

As mentioned above, the left side on an 07 are phone controls, not audio.

The left hand steering wheel controls are for the bluetooth phone, but also give you volume control for audo and the rocker switch on back gives you forward/back track selection. I use them more often to control the audio than the phone.

Likewise, works perfectly for iPod control.

Really??? LOL

In the year that I have owned my car, I never knew that was the case. Excellent - must try that out at the weekend. Thanks for that!

Thanks for the info - I didn;t realise bluetooth phone was involved.

I have the GSM telephone in mine, running a dual sim card which seems to work fine, would I be able to control my phone via this steering wheel controls or is it purely for bluetooth kits? Regardless, the audio is my main priority.

Schmee - The £200 option sounds fine, couldn't I just advise my dealer of the retrofit whenever the car went back to them and they coudl either not frlash it themselves or flash it with the software that includes the phone/audio controls on the wheel?

Cheers

My instinct says that your left side looks rather like my right side:

Which implies a new steering wheel needed with all of the options.

What would be useful is to see what a newer car with the position to put the switches but without them there would look like.

On a MY07?

Are you sure?

People with iPod connectivity have an MY08 or onwards.

No iPod connectivity in mine and think I have heard you need MY2008 for it before.

The iPod adaptor came in when they changed from a 4.3 to 4.7 - I think.

This is what the control looks like on mine with iPod and Bluetooth:

4 front buttons; Dial, Vol Up, Vol Down, End, and the rocker on the side for Next/Last

I have an MY06 with Bluetooth, no iPod obviously - read this and was intrigued so just went and tried it - the volume +/- on the Bluetooth steering wheel controls only the call volume, it does not control the audio volume.

Same on my V8VR with Bluetooth - controls on wheel only affect phone. If there's a way to get them to control the audio volume I would really like to know.

Hello All,

I think I'm right in saying. Originally the steering wheel controls were designed for the Bluetooth as mentioned, on 07.5MY they were also then utilised for the basic control of volume and track up/down (seek), the control wire from the SWC changed from going direct to the bluetooth box to the ICM, then the ICM told the Bluetooth box what to do. From 08MY the whole BT and Audio system changed completely so that the SWC then did a whole lot more.

I hope this makes sense.

Best regards,

Paralight

Thought so.
