I've not moved my Vantage for nearly two weeks due to the weather and I'm getting withdrawal symptoms. However I guess I should do the power down or whatever its called to preserve the battery.

Thoughts? Also how is it done, just press switch in the boot and reset via the one behind the drivers seat.

That is the correct way - alternatively if you have the AM battery charger thingy, and a power supply, best to plug it in.

Best bet is definitely to get it on a conditioner.

Otherwise, hit the disconnect switch.

2 weeks should be OK. Mine's been left a lot longer and been OK before (touch wood!).

There are a few on eBay going for 'not very much' so I'm keeping my completely non-needed one just in case.

at the moment there are two items on ebay.

An old model for a DB7 which is £70 and a non Aston C Tec for £55

Enlighten me where I can find an aston martin new charger which retails at £168 plus vat for ' not very much'

Not to worry will keep as a spare!

The Aston Martin one is a badged CTek. Pretty much like Ferrari ones.

CTeks and Accumates can be had for around 50 quid new...

Well I was assuming maybe £100 to sell, and against a £100k-odd car, £100 is "not very much" wink

Ahh, I meant it as, £100 is not much to keep it for the time you might actually want it if there is to be one. I've thought about selling mine (have an eBay account with 2500 odd feedback selling stuff so not new to selling my old rubbish) but if I ever wanted to use it once then it would be worth having.

I fought for every £100 on buying the car, and will be fighting for discount on extra bits I buy too!

I went out to the garage this morning to kill the power and thought sod I'll take the Vantage to work. A little slippery getting off the drive but after that no problems. Warms up far quicker than my daily diesel Civic and of course I almost forgot....heated seats!. A nice toasty drive to and from work.

I would have loved to have done that but sadly out here in Germany after a recent law change, it'd now be illegal to drive it in snowy conditions without winter tires: can face an on the spot fine or worse still potentially invalidate insurance etc!

Cant bring myself to do what many of the locals do and put steel wheels and winter tires on. 19 inch Winter tires more than I'd want to pay, especially when I've got a runaround I can use. Looks like the Aston will spend the Winter in the garage unfortunately, or at least until the snow/sludge disappears.

Wish I'd bought the half price charger!
Went to start the car today and it's 'flat as a pancake' - that's after only 8 days of not using it - the battery was new 3 montha ago.
I'm rather dissapointed really as I think any car should hold its charge after this short period of time.

Just be a bit careful when buying one off Ebay...

I had a charger with my DB7 which I kept when I got the DB9. The DB9 didnt come with one and the dealer was happy to let me keep the DB7 one. Anyway the first time I came to use it I realised that the plug was the wrong size for the DB9 so I had to rewire it with a different plug to suit. (NB It fitted the DB7 fine with the original plug). I had (naively) assumed that all plugs were the same size

I say this so that if you get one for a DB7 to use with another model you may have to rewire it (its kind of hard to tell from photos of the plug I guess)

I ordered one of these last Friday morning.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CTEK-XS3600-Battery-Charger-...
It arrived in the mail on Saturday morning which given the conditions was a pleasant surprise. The 12v socket plug that came with it will fit both 12mm and 21mm sockets. I think it spent the best part of a day bringing the battery up to full charge and now every so often it does a pulse charge to keep it topped up. I think its an impressive piece of kit and I intend to leave it plugged in the car throughout the winter when I use it the least.

Thanks to ALXCE for identifying the right charger. I've just ordered one from eBay.
